Porridge and Park Run! πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺπŸ₯£πŸ₯£

I am now a porridge eater! I think my dislike of it was all in my head. It's fine. And filling and I don't get light headed when I run!

Have to admit I had to force it down at 7am this morning! Second park run! According to my timing also my fastest 5k. Feet were soaking wet and the second circuit was tough on the uphill bits but ran every step! I love Park Run! Everyone is so friendly and supportive. And I'm amazed how many people I know who run too! 😁😁😁🐌🐌

I sometimes add 7g of peanut butter. Might go a bit mad tomorrow and have 8g 😁πŸ’ͺ

Glad you enjoyed your 2nd parkrun this morning Ang33333333, I am Scottish but never eat porridge for breakfast, but it did help you getting a PB. Well done.

Yay Ang! Well done! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ So happy you enjoyed it and got your PB! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

So porridge every run now? I love it too, although I think my bite of banana is sufficient for me before a run. Porridge after suits me better (with loads of blueberries πŸ˜‹).

Oh yes definitely blueberries! My favourites! I can't run empty. I think that's why I like evening runs best!

Very pleased to hear that porridge is suiting you. And delighted that you are enjoying your Parkrun. I wonder how long it takes you to reach you Parkrun from your house. Well done you! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

I know we're very lucky. It's a new park run on Marlborough Common. No car needed! πŸ˜€

Porridge is great, especially when it’s a bit nippy. Congrats on a new PB πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Congratulations.πŸ’

Now you’ve joined the porridge club you can invent loads of ways to have it.

My faves are a spoon of crunchy peanut butter stirred in or banana and some cocoa powder. The list is endless when you get started.

One caveat. You do mean real porridge and not the dusty stuff don’t you?

Ang33333 profile image
Ang33333β€’ in reply toAnnieW55

Oh definitely the real stuff. My husband has the microwave stuff. Looks like glue! But is easy!

Well done. I used to make porridge for breakfast and now make my own muesli with oats, dried fruit, chopped nuts, flax and chia seeds, soaked in almond milk overnight (and frozen berries) or if I have fresh fruit, I add that just before serving (strawberries this morning, yum).

Ang33333 profile image
Ang33333β€’ in reply toFlyingred

Yum! I'll try that!

Well done! πŸ˜ƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈβ€οΈI was up at 7am to eat my oats before Parkrun too. I’m too lazy to make porridge on Saturday mornings, so stick overnight soaked oats in the fridge with a load of frozen berries the night before. Might switch to hot porridge when the weather gets colder. 😊

Ang33333 profile image
Ang33333β€’ in reply tomountaindreamer

I'm going to try the overnight oats. Yum! πŸ˜€

mountaindreamer profile image
mountaindreamerGraduate10β€’ in reply toAng33333

I use a Morrison’s recipe, if you need proportions : 50g oats + 100ml normal milk + 1 teaspoon honey + as many frozen berries as you fancy (or fresh).

I also like to add about 1tsp of chia seeds and about 1tbsp of mixed seeds (linseed / pumpkin etc). Just stick them in a jar with a lid, mix, then put in the fridge until the morning.

I then mix up well again and smash up the bigger berries before eating. I especially like the way raspberries and blackberries work in it.
