I am now a porridge eater! I think my dislike of it was all in my head. It's fine. And filling and I don't get light headed when I run!
Have to admit I had to force it down at 7am this morning! Second park run! According to my timing also my fastest 5k. Feet were soaking wet and the second circuit was tough on the uphill bits but ran every step! I love Park Run! Everyone is so friendly and supportive. And I'm amazed how many people I know who run too! πππππ

Glad you enjoyed your 2nd parkrun this morning Ang33333333, I am Scottish but never eat porridge for breakfast, but it did help you getting a PB. Well done.
Yay Ang! Well done! ππππ So happy you enjoyed it and got your PB! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
So porridge every run now? I love it too, although I think my bite of banana is sufficient for me before a run. Porridge after suits me better (with loads of blueberries π).
Very pleased to hear that porridge is suiting you. And delighted that you are enjoying your Parkrun. I wonder how long it takes you to reach you Parkrun from your house. Well done you! πππ
Well done. I used to make porridge for breakfast and now make my own muesli with oats, dried fruit, chopped nuts, flax and chia seeds, soaked in almond milk overnight (and frozen berries) or if I have fresh fruit, I add that just before serving (strawberries this morning, yum).
Well done! ππββοΈβ€οΈI was up at 7am to eat my oats before Parkrun too. Iβm too lazy to make porridge on Saturday mornings, so stick overnight soaked oats in the fridge with a load of frozen berries the night before. Might switch to hot porridge when the weather gets colder. π
I use a Morrisonβs recipe, if you need proportions : 50g oats + 100ml normal milk + 1 teaspoon honey + as many frozen berries as you fancy (or fresh).
I also like to add about 1tsp of chia seeds and about 1tbsp of mixed seeds (linseed / pumpkin etc). Just stick them in a jar with a lid, mix, then put in the fridge until the morning.
I then mix up well again and smash up the bigger berries before eating. I especially like the way raspberries and blackberries work in it.
Gotta love porridge! But I seem to take forever making it! And congrats on new personal best in your park run. Am going to do ours next week! I've said it out loud now! Happy weekend.
so glad you got your fuelling right and your feeling better as a result. porridge eh food of the running gods. Iβm glad youβve found a taste for it although as you say itβs a bit hard eating so early before parkrun. Well done on your new PB despite the wet you did excellent, Parkrun is great fun.
