Sometimes we don't feel like writing a whole post, sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day!
Recent C25K graduate still building up to 5K? Consolidating 5K, or perhaps working towards 10K? Seasoned 10K pro? Wherever you are with your running, this is the place to chat about it!!!
Or even if you just want to post a quick hello - itβs lovely to hear from you all π
Feeling lucky? This week I'm waiting for my 'Commiserations' magazine from the London Marathon ballot πππ Have you taken a punt at anything recently? Do you have racing aspirations of a more realistic kind? Do you aspire to run the London Marathon?
EDIT: Didn't get in π
Anyway, have a great week running, everyone!

My commiserations pack arrived again this morning. It's always disappointment tinged with a little relief. I'm a Londoner and feel it's the only one I'd really put the effort in for. Last GNR was a big fundraising event for me so charity place not an option. Still - signed up for the Big Half next year, and am going to enter a local 16 mile race in the spring , may rethink depending on how that all goes.
Sorry to hear that! I kind of feel the same only the other way round - disappointment tinged with relief π I didn't really want to do a Spring marathon next year so it was good that I didn't get a ballot place, but I felt so so disappointed! Maybe next time π
Graduated C25K last Tuesday... ran 3k on a track Thursday and yet to lace up my shoes since. Daughter spent the weekend at her grandads so I took the opportunity to do absolutely nothing! Legs are desperate to go... so consolidation run one is this afternoon.
It was great... slow paced deliberately, I put some older than me tunes on, Norman wisdom, George formby, Max bygraves and more... then at 27 minutes I hit my power song and kicked on to some Pantera! Did 4 laps of a 1k circuit... I think Iβll do another just like that and then crank it up and do the 5.
Yeah... needed to stop myself sprinting off after a few days off and Iβd been reminded of my grandfather earlier that day so I built a playlist of songs he used to sing. Theyβre definitely not running tracks π.
So, today I get to knock on my neighbourβs door and drag him out to start C25K... heβs wanted to do it for a few weeks now but said he needed kicking up the butt to get started... saw him last night and said to keep his trainers handy today.
Should be better than me after it... heβs expecting me coaching him and pushing him... heβs gonna be getting βslow downβ and the likes. Gonna put him on my 400m ish circuit in the park so I can walk about in the middle.
Thanks... next challenge is something Iβm working out
I did my first 10km on Saturday and I am not sure where to go from here. My overall plan is to work on speed rather than distance so maybe I'll do intervals with some hills thrown in. This week, I think I'll do a 4km and a 5km (following on Ju-Ju's plan) with maybe an 8km at the weekend. It all depends on the weather and the wind (which is quite strong today).
I havenβt been out since my 7k on Thursday!! Friendsβ diamond wedding, daughter flying in, carbon monoxide alarm at church, waiting for engineer to fix it......must get out today! I can feel the fitness draining away by the minute!!
Got out in the evening for a 4K thanks. Blowing a gale, pretty slow, but soothed the savage beast! 5k today and then hopefully 8k Friday or Saturday. Just off for a loosen up swim.
So, have been using stepping stones podcasts while consolidating and now havenβt run for 10 days because Iβve got groin strain!!
Gutted that Iβve come this far and now have this injury and worried I might lose my fitness/running whilst I recover. Iβm still walking everyday as I have a dog but when Iβm walking it does feel better but when Iβm resting/doing stuff around the house I seize up! I guess Iβm right in not running until it goes but does anyone have any experience of picking up groin strain whilst running?
I don't have that experience, sorry to hear you're having trouble. How is it now? I think you are right to carry on with the walking, this will help keep you fit, and help stop you seizing up - it's nearly always best to keep moving when injured. Do you like swimming? A very good exercise for keeping fit whilst injured. Maybe try running a few steps at a time during your walks to see how it feels.
Well my injury felt tons better so I did a 5k run last week which went well at the time but shortly after completing I was in real discomfort. I no longer think it was groin strain but bursitis. It feels better when walking but seizes up during periods of inactivity. Iβm still walking the dog but obviously havenβt run since last Thursday. Gutted! βΉοΈ
Intervals today, to try to regain lost speed while holidaying in hot places over the summer! Felt good to push myself again. Even better that it wasn't 30 deg C
