These "Power flapjacks" got me through the Great South Run a couple of years ago, so I am hoping they will do the same in a couple of weeks! Will be chopping one up to fuel me on my long run tomorrow...yum!๐Ÿ™‚

The recipe can be found here...

Yuuummmmmmm. Recipe? I'm not running far, but I can still bake! Today's blueberry scones are delicious but will only fuel me all the way to weightwatchers!

..of course! I have linked to it many times on here - here it is below.I use almonds, dried cherries and dried cranberries as my fruit and nut but you can use whatever you like I guess. Happy baking!๐Ÿ™‚

Warning: Maybe not to be eaten too often๐Ÿ˜ฎ...but we need the sugar for running! They do freeze well, which stops me from eating too many!๐Ÿ™‚

Ewwww peanut butter ... can you taste it? I guess it's a key ingredient though as far as power is concerned :D

๐Ÿ˜‚Ha ha!! I love peanut butter and yes, you can taste the peanut in it. I guess you could leave it out though and adjust the recipe somewhat. ๐Ÿ™‚

I might just try them anyway. As I say to the kids, you should keep re-trying the things you think you don't like in case your tastes have changed :D

I never liked peanut butter but converted on basis of an amazing African sweet potato stew recipe - darn fine curried vegetable dish that without PB is watery mess, with PB is amazing. Still canโ€™t imagine eating the stuff on toast though - uuurghhhh

Good housekeeping best vegetarian cook book c 2000 era. Similar recipes online - def need spinach and mushrooms but skip the double cream.

I thought PNB was the spawn of Satan. I flippin love the stuff now. Itโ€™s great energy fuel ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜‹

I make the power flapjacks recipe on here somewhere. That one uses dates Wouldnโ€™t attempt a seriously long run without one ๐Ÿ˜‹

If I said eewwww to dates as well, you might start to think I was overly picky ... maybe I'm not as cut out for long distance running as I'd hoped :D :D :D

The dates melt completely but provide moisture and hold it all together.

I thought ewwwww too! I hate sweet peanut flavours. Really can't bear them unless they're on toast with marmite or in a satay sauce. I used tahini instead in mine. ๐Ÿ‘ For the record, I used apricots, crystallised ginger and dried bananas in mine for the fruit component. And different seeds because it's what I had in the cupboard. They're very customisable! We should do a thread with all our own versions ๐Ÿ˜€

thank you.. i signed off before the replies came in..

my usual goto recipe is much simpler.. butter, oats and syrup ( 1/3 treacle for a parkin taste ) plus what ever nuts and dried fruits are in the cupboard.

i think i will try the PNB substitute thoโ€™

Happy Running ๐Ÿ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks for the recipe! Those look great; I may have to whip up a batch this weekend (and freeze or they won't make it to a run ๐Ÿ˜†)
