Never posted before but spent a lot of time reading truly inspirational posts. I started this journey with the C25K at the beginning of June initially to try and support my eldest daughter with her quest to run a 5k for charity. I quickly became hooked against all expectation having successfully avoided sport and strenuous activity for all my adult life . I wavered once I’d completed the C25K wasn’t sure how to motivate to keep improving so kind of fell into following ju-ju’s plan which gave my running structure and here I am . Cannot believe I’ve just run a whole 10k and felt brilliant at the end of it , all elements came together to make it one of those special runs. I shall ride this high all day 😀Thanks to all included in this forum detailing their personal journeys for helping to convince me it was possible ,it was my goal to get to 10k before my 54th Birthday in October .🎂
First 10k ,yay.: Never posted before but spent... - Bridge to 10K
First 10k ,yay.
Well done on your first 10k! ...and welcome to the forum!🙂 So many of us have followed a similar journey, finding that running becomes something so important in our lives! You have progressed so quickly and that is a great first 10k time with a good steady pace. Such a buzz isn't? You will be smiling all day!🙂🏃🏽♀️
Thats a fantastic acheivement Bry64...Congratulations on a great 10k run!
You need a new goal now! ...😊😉
Hopefully just continuing to run regularly and enjoying challenging yourself or simply running for fun.
There is the monthly Quest on here too, and sharing your running experiences can help to keep you motivated...😊

Congratulations on a brilliant achievement Bry!! Really good time too. You deserve to smile all day. Keep us posted on your running journey.
Will do. Trying to stick with three runs a week a 3k ,a5k and a long run to ingrain the habit. Struggle with the short run trying to go faster so might start having a stab at hills as they are hard to avoid where I live ,though I’ve managed it up to now by pretty much running in circles lol. All this running malarkey seems to be taking over but in a good way 👍
A great first post and a great 10k! I can imagine your grin - it's a wonderful feeling isn't it? Is your daughter still running? My daughter and I ran C25K together. At the end she announced she hated running and would never run again (and has so far been true to her word) whereas, beyond all expectations, I am utterly hooked
Both my elder girls ( I have 3 altogether ) ran the C25K with me initially though they came in at something like the end of week 2 , we had some nice runs altogether then I got over enthusiastic injured my Achilles and had three miserable weeks on IC whilst they ran without me 😩. By the time I was back the eldest was doing her race so I continued at my own pace. Unfortunately both of them are constrained by work/ family stuff so don’t seem to get chance to get out there though the eldest is determined to somehow join with me which would be great. Can’t believe I’m the one still forging ahead all seems a bit surreal . And yes I think I’m totally hooked too 🤣
That's a shame for them, but brilliant for you in the long run. Hope they're super impressed
I think early injury plays an important part in getting hooked - nothing like not being able to do something to make you really want to do it! Certainly worked that way for me
Well done Bry64, I just love it when people appear from nowhere and declare they have graduated and at a great pace too. You should be so proud of yourself . 🏃♂️👏👏👏👏🎓🍾🥂
Thank you for your kind words 🤗 I’ve been reading everybody’s posts for months ,gaining so much useful information and inspiration ,I’ve repeated some salient bits to myself when being attacked by multiple gremlins, those guys can be shockers sometimes. I now try to engage glutes when going up slopes and have bought EJB ‘s ( emergency jelly babies) for the long runs 😀🏃♀️
Huge well done, Bry64! Enjoy your celebrations! 😃🎉🎉🎉🎉🏃♀️🏃♂️💗❤️😃
Have had a couple down at the local with MrBry64, I rarely drink now so feel quite light headed lol but the event had to be celebrated 🍸🍸 ,still grinning 😁 ,can’t remember when I last felt so euphoric for so long !
Well done mate, i am on a similar quest building up from the c2k started at the end of June, consolidated for a bit after graduation, it felt a bit unstructured and I think I missed Michael J, about 3k away from the 10K goal, but building mileage each week, I see you are on strava, great tool, love interrogating it post run, Gone a bit wayward a couple of times but think it’s as only as good as GPS on your phone, wish I had started this years ago,
Thanks Tony, I was just thinking the same thing yesterday, why on earth wasn’t I doing this in my 20s,30s ,40s ?? Happy with Strava so far but my running so far is around the town I live in and the signal stays consistent. Was considering signing up for extras which come at a cost then I will have loads of info to pour over 😂🤣
Well done Bry! What a fabulous first post - lovely that you lurked and still found the forum useful 😁👍🍾🎉🎓
Cheers 🤗 I’ve spent months reading all the posts avidly but felt a bit in awe to join in. It’s taking me a while to see myself as a runner and not someone playing at it 😂 I’m really hoping that I will stick at this as I feel so many benefits . I work from home and this forces me to get outside usually at the crack of dawn and it sets me up for the day in a way nothing else does, wish I’d found this running lark years ago 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Great job. This running thing really is very special isnt it?. Keep on running ( and posting!)
Thanks Johnm12 ,tried my first gentle hill yesterday as I really can’t keep running in flat circles 😂, bit of a challenge so that’s the next thing to concentrate on.
