This morning the sun was shining and it was around 11C. Again, I couldn't find my long sleeved t shirt so the short sleeves had to do. Within a couple of minutes it was a relief to feel the wind on my skin.
Lately I've got into the habit of checking my heart rate whenever I start to feel uncomfortable but today I decided to ignore it. I just ran how I felt. Some of the run was on rough grass, some on muddy paths, some on concrete.
My first km, the fastest, was 1'37"/km faster than the second, the slowest. A huge muddy puddle and an abandoned bike, which of course we had to stop and look at, will do that to your stats
We took a slightly different route to our usual in order to avoid the worst of the mud which meant that when I reached the end of the path I was about 300m short of 5k. I'd just passed a couple of ladies who kindly held their dogs out of my way. They were a bit surprised to see me passing them again. I warned I'd be turning around yet again as I passed for the second time (didn't bother explaining why). I got the impression I was straining their patience.
When I checked my heart rate after the run, just over 5km, it wasn't that different to any other run. Probably proves something.
This might well be my last run of 2023, so if it is I'll wish everyone a happy New Year and happy running in 2024 πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπ¨π¨π¨π¨
