Pins and needles in my fingers?

I find at around the 3.5 mile mark I get pins and needles in my fingers ? I am not holding my arms at a particularly sharp angle, and shaking them out does not seem to do much. Though as soon as I finish the 5k they start to go away ?

Any idea, is it something to worry about?

Might be shoulder or neck tension, could be worth trying a few shoulder rolls/gentle neck movements.

I had that on a long run once. Read somewhere someone suggested hydration issue ?

Had exactly the same, pins & needles but in my feet and like you I was worried.

There is loads of stuff on the web regarding this, Cannot exactly remember but something to do with blood flow. Either your veins expand or shrink when running which causes pins & needles as blood struggling to flow something like that.

The fact that it went away after running suggests that is the cause and is no problem. Eventually after a couple of weeks of p&n it never came back.

I am wondering if it is our bodies adjusting as once I was getting knee pains but again went away after running,no longer get the pain.My wifey does say I am a pain in the backside but I do not think that counts with running.

If the p & n say is constant and oes not go away for hours or days a trip to quacks would be in order. Sounds like you are A OK (-:

Ah, i had this after coming in from a run when it was cold, and cooling down too fast. I was puzzled as my circulation is generally good. My fingers went white too. My partner, who has reynards, was thrilled.

Hi, I've suffered pins and needles in my hands/fingers in the past (but not when I was running) which was connected to tension in my neck/upper spine (as ancientrunner suggests). Probably a good idea to see a physio if it doesn't improve.

Hope it goes away very soon ... good luck!
