Not sure where I want this amazing journey to go??? Going to do Park run in a couple of weeks but not sure if I want to aim for as much as 10k.... do many members just keep up with 5k or does the “bug” bite and carry on??
Post graduation.... what now?: Not sure where... - Bridge to 10K
Post graduation.... what now?
I suspect it’s different for everyone. I just had fun for a couple of weeks, running faster, shorter routes or slower longer ones. Began to miss the structure of C25K, so picked up the '10 is the magic number' plan from the Bridge to 10k forum. Now on week 3 of that. It's much more flexible than C25K, but still has enough structure and goals to keep me interested.
Edited to add: I also did a parkrun last weekend, and you should definitely try one if you have one locally.
Different strokes for different folks really
My wife is very happy just running 5K three times a week. She's not chasing longer distances or even what she feels is the "competitive" aspect of parkruns. No PBs for her. And she's perfectly happy and loves her running.
Other people really want to get faster over 5K or push the distance out to 10K or beyond. Depending on what you want to do, there's masses of advice around here and on the Bridge to 10K forum if that takes your fancy.
There are no rules now, which makes life both easier and more complicated.
Right now (and congratulations on the graduation!!) just relax a bit, run around, take walking breaks if you want them and just get used to this running about thing. xx
Great advice.... the getting used to the running about thing sounds fantastic!!!! thanks sallenson.... think I will take it as it happens.... looking forward to my 1st post grad one on Sat but will take Laura and w9R3 with me just so i can have some structure. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🤗🦋
Taking part in a parkrun is a good idea littlerua. If you enjoy it , as I do, it can become part of your running routine. I love joining everyone on a Saturday morning .
I agree - I'm doing my third park run tomorrow and have included it as one of my 3 runs. The runners and volunteers are very friendly and you hear a lot of laughter - no pressure at all.
