Post graduation running.

After graduation I consolidated for several weeks but then got demotivated and found I was allowing myself to walk at times (not a crime I realise!!). Although I love to listen to podcasts while running I discovered I need structure so have turned to the 5+ series of podcasts. I found the ‘stepping stones’ one too slow, the ‘speed’ one was fun (dare I say easy? - still amazed I can be saying that) but the ‘stamina’ one seems to be my Goldilocks one. It kept me running right to the end and I tacked on a few extra minutes to get my first 5k for ages. Looked to see the data of the run to find I’d recorded it as a walk!! Fairly impressive one I think you’ll find. Anyway, thank you Laura, I’m back on track.

Well done getting back to 5k. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😃❤️ Sometimes a bit of Laura in our ears is just what we need. (I still miss her now! But you eventually get used to running without her...) Stamina is a good podcast. I think some people use it for one of their weekly runs even when following Juju’s 10k plan.

Yes I thought it would be a good weekly one. Not sure about the other 2 outings - one shorter one speed maybe? Time will tell!

THANK YOU. Just what I needed. My best friend Laura is back and my pace was faster than usual. The 150bpm at the beginning felt slow, but good to start off slow, and listening to a Laura got me painlessly through the first 1km which always feels hard. The step up to 155bpm felt about right. I had to shorten my stride to keep that pace with my feet. The step up again for the 'last' 5mins made me work but was doable. Because I wasn't sure where the middle of the run would be I deliberately overshot a little before turning back. Had to rewind the podcast and replay the second half of it to get me back home. 6km, second fastest run. All sections bar the beginning under 7mins/km. I have impressed myself! I did do this run on the flat though, no hills today!

Flat is always good! Glad I was of help. FYI 155 is where the stamina one starts I think.

Walking is fine by the way. It can save your ass! 💪👍

That’s so true but in fact I was just stopping! Felt I was letting the side down as I knew I COULD do it - just wasn’t. About to head out (at least I’m still out 3 times a week ✅) but it’s damp so may do a quick ‘speed’ one.
