Sorry, Hidden , I just wrote you a reply to your post about Parkrun, then couldn’t post it when I tried to (my iPad said it couldn’t find the post!) I also couldn’t get back in to copy the text...so here’s a screenshot! 🙄😊❤️

Hope that helps. ❤️

Thanks for this. I posted that question twice and it kept saying page no longer Available!

Weird...hope you can read it ok! Basically, just have fun and don’t worry. I perhaps should have checked you know about registering on the online Parkrun site, and printing off your barcode and taking it with you, if you want an official time?

I keep my barcode in my phone case until I’ve finished. We get given plastic bar code tabs just after we enter the finishing funnel (which matches you up to the finishing time the volunteers with stopwatches have for you), then we walk down the funnel to more volunteers who scan this plastic tab alongside your own Parkrun ID barcode. The 2 then get married up in the results table, and you’ll get emailed your time a couple of hours after the race has finished.

Lol, EVERYBODY has asked if I’ve registered and got the barcode. It’s stowed away in my zip pocket of my leggings, in with my old lady bus pass in case Mr I Don’t Snore gets bored and wants to go home before I’ve finished running!

Omg are you doing a ParkRun flick?!

in reply toTasha99

Yes! first ever! am shi**ing bricks so to speak. I'm so hopeless about things like directions and routes that i always worry before the event - and STILL manage to miss important info :)

You’ll love it! Such fun! I think most people worry before their first one, then after, they wonder why they were ever concerned! Everyone is so nice!

in reply toTasha99

Thanks, that's reassuring :) x

My missus popped hers in her bra for her first one and at the end realised she'd sweated it off 😂

That’s really funny! I think my little back pocket is ideal

I stuck all mine through the work laminator, punched a hole in them and added a little grabby crocodile clip so I can attach the one I use to my top. [/loser]

in reply toSqkr

Ive just put it with my bus pass

I’ve upgraded to a wrist ‘smooth band’ 😂

mountaindreamerGraduate10 in reply toTasha99

I’m going to upgrade to the big plastic card one, as I don’t want anything else round my wrist. We were warned by the volunteers at the end that if people attach the small card ones to their laces then the volunteers aren’t keen... Apparently they’ve been kicked in the face on numerous occasions when they bend down to scan the card just as helpful tired runners lift their feet up toward them! 😣❤️

I've got the big plastic card, on a lanyard, and a little one permanently on my laces, on the grounds I'm less likely to forget my shoes :-) …… but if I ever do need to use that one, I'll take it off before offering it to the volunteers.

But surely part of the joy of parkrun is the panicked fumbling at the end. It's like being a heady teenager again :P

in reply topinkaardvark

Erm ... you’re the kind of teenager I avoided in the back row of the cinema at that age 😳

in reply toTasha99

Fantastic Tasha, thank you for this!

May just be my scanning technique, but I found them the worst ….. nobody offered me a shoe-tag, thankfully :-)

Good luck with your debut Flick. I agree with every mountaindreamer says apart from I start my Garmin at the start line. It will differ from the parkrun time by the time it takes you to get to the line but is for my personal satisfaction. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Thank you 😊💜

My Runkeeper has a count down too, Eileen, so I have a few precious seconds spare to stash my phone! 😊 Must get a Garmin at some point, as I do hate fighting to get my phone in and out of things! ❤️

Yes that was one of my bugbears too. Also Strava was proving unreliable. You can start your music on the phone and then pause it on your watch until you want it. You can then put your phone away and your watch does everything else. You’ve just got to make sure it finds gps before starting off.

I’m biding my time until the next big Amazon sale (Black Friday?) then the Forerunner 35 shall be mine! 😊😊😊

Also check out John Lewis, I found them competitive (with longer warranty and aftercare £10)

You’ve already been to loads of them, Brian! Surely you don’t need any tips now...😂❤️

in reply tomountaindreamer

Well I'm glad you were so thorough - very useful and reassuring. i'm sure I'll be fine once I've done it!
