What a joyous hour I just had. 😀 Eastville Junior Parkrun is back! Even though my grandson isn’t yet 2, so not even half way to being able to run there himself, I couldn’t resist the call for volunteers so off I went to marshal. Sadly no dogs allowed at juniors so I had to avoid making eye contact with Flossie as I left the house. 🥺
Upon arrival it was so lovely seeing all the familiar hi viz signs and tabards! I was stationed at marshal point 2, a great vantage point. It’s 2 reverse laps, pretty hilly. There were between 20-30 little ones today, some carrying teddies, one carrying a mermaid, some dragging their parents! The little boy who came in “first” (not a race though, remember?!) was clearly a superstar in the making. 💥 It was nice seeing him at the finish clapping the others in. 😀
The weather stayed dry and there were lots of happy faces, both kids and adults alike. Can’t wait until 26th June when, all being well, it’s our turn! 🤞🏃♀️ 🏃♂️ 🐕

I really enjoyed being tailwalker at our Junior parkrun. One little girl sat down to remove her shoes and wring out her socks. She was flagging at the end so we were racing her dad to the next landmark - Junior Fartlek? A small boy kept stopping to pick flowers and really dawdled in between. I found out later that he was capable of quite fast times - obviously not in the mood that day
Thanks Shakes. It’s my second time volunteering at juniors, and I’ll definitely do it again. It’s such fun, and as bonus it counts towards my tally for teeshirt purposes. 👍
Lovely cheeky, my grandson is due next month 😁 so is only kicking but you’ve made me realise what a great volunteer role that could be, great to hear you had a joyful time 🤗
I’m all geared up for my first Parkrun as well and might be in need of a comfort Teddy myself! 🤣🤣
But all ready, with registration ✔️, tags ✔️, and even a “back together” armband (with my health condition and emergency contact, so I am starting to use it for every run).
Hooray for junior parkrun cheeky, and another step back to normal, good on you for volunteering. There's one near me, now I think of it. Might just put myself on the volunteer list, it sounds like it could be a hoot!
Oh you must GOG, it’s such fun and as it’s only 2k it’s not much time out of your morning to sacrifice. Plus it goes towards your volunteer tally so it’s a win-win. 😀
Yes it was Jonathan. 😀 So wonderful to see everyone so happy. Can’t wait for the grownup one to return! Our Saturdays will be back to normal at last! 👏👏👏
Oh really UTS? Your council is digging its heels in isn’t it? I hope they change their tune. Do you have a plan B if yours doesn’t budge but enough others have okayed it to allow PR start back up?
Brilliant! Another small step back towards normality. Such a shame Flossie couldn’t go though; she could’ve high 5d all the littlies as they went past 😂 Us next 🤞🤞🤞
I didn’t know dogs weren’t allowed the first time at volunteered at juniors, and rocked up with Flossie. The RD knows her and said because it was Flossie she was allowed to stay, but dogs aren’t to be encouraged because a) some aren’t well behaved enough and b) some little kids don’t like them. Fair enough I suppose. 🐕
