What a day, and aren’t runners wonderful? 🏃‍♀️❤️🏃☀️❤️

A totally pointless post, but I’m walking my dog and my ‘niece’ dog at Ashton Court this morning, ahead of PR tomorrow. I love it here, and I always marvel at the fact that I CAN run the monster hill without stopping. 💪

But the reason I’m posting is that I’ve seen many runners, and they’ve all been friendly. Maybe it’s me. Maybe, before becoming a runner, I didn’t used to give them the time of day, but now it’s different. I know how they’re feeling .... either slogging (or, less frequently, bounding) up the hill - and then freewheeling down again. They’ve all given me smiles back, and the occasional word too! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃🏃😀😀

Pic is from the top of the hill. You can see why it’s epic running back down from up here.

Anyway. what a lovely pastime we have, with amazing people. ❤️

Enjoy your runs everyone, and try to smile to other runners/walkers. It can make someone’s day. 😀❤️

You are right cheeky I always lift a hand as I pass a runner. Sometimes they do the same, sometimes they don’t notice as they are so focused, but that’s okay. Enjoy tomorrow

The view is made even more sweet because it’s what you’re treated to on the way back down TC! 😅

Looks like a lovely run in spite of the hill! I remember having quite a few ciders at the Ashton Court festivals lol! I dont see many runners at the time I run in Keynsham but would definitely smile as I pass..it doesnt take much to make someones day. Have a good PR tomorrow! :)

Yes, I used to ride in AC as well as go to festivals and drink cider, CCM. It’s a great place to do all sorts, riding, cycling, walking, music venue - and now the best of all, running! You should give PR there a try one day! You’d deserve a cider at the end! 😅

It really is Pancakes, especially on a day like this. 😍😍

That looks beautiful cheeky, your dogs are so lucky. 🐶😄

I've actually started waving and smiling at runners more now that I've been on this forum. I've always enjoyed the solitude of a run, I like my alone time. So I'm in my own world when I'm running, in fact it's pretty hard to disturb me from my 'zen state' for want of a better word.

But reading comments on this forum and seeing how a wave/smile to another runner, maybe just starting out, can mean a lot to them... I'm doing it all the time now, I actually think... they might be on week 5 run 3, and I give them a smile/wave

And now I'm getting smiles and waves back... it's all great stuff.

It’s so true isn’t it clubberlang? Runners seem to look out for each other. It’s fabulous! ❤️❤️

Ashton Court is truly beautiful Cheeky!! I’ve been there, but not for running! You’re right, a smile and a hello gives an extra pep in the run!! I find it works well in all circumstances too!! It’s infectious!! ❤️

It certainly does Fab. ❤️ It’s amazing isn’t it? 😀🏃‍♀️🏃😀

I’m so looking forward to Ashton Court tomorrow. Talk about a runner’s high - the moment you get to the top is the hill is unreal! 😀 Enjoy your next run! 😀😀

Yes, once you understand what runner's are up to it's nice to give a wave/smile/hello. I got a couple of grins from cyclists as they whizzed down the hill I was running up yesterday 😁

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply toBaddieThePirate

Haha, they’d probably been up that same hill on their bikes and had some idea how it felt for you CH! 🏃‍♀️🚲

As we were running down from Taxal Edge last week there were 2 cyclists 🚵‍♀️ 🚵‍♂️ riding up. I just shouted ‘you’re going the wrong way, it’s easier this way!’ They grinned too 😁

You probably gave them an expert surge of energy by doing that! It always helps me if I’m running up a hill and someone comments to me! 😅👏👏

Great photo, what a lovely place to run (not sure about the hill though!)

cheekychipmunks profile image

It is truly lovely skysue - and the hill is, well, character building! There are 2 particularly steep sections which, on the plus side, make the rest of it seem like a piece of cake! Running down makes it all worthwhile though! 😀😀

No such thing as a pointless post!

Maybe you should atop walking the dog in your jogging garb? 😁

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply toKatnap

I do take the dog there if I’m feeling particularly feisty Katnap! Sometimes I like to ‘treat’ myself to a long hill run and then she can run off the lead and pick her own footing. We aren’t allowed to use the grass during parkrun unfortunately, and the stones aren’t her favourite. 🐕🐕🐕
