Caugh muscle ache ...
Well done for covering 10k+. Sorry to hear about your aching calf. It may be your Achilles’ tendon bothering you. Heel drops and calf stretches can help with that.
In addition to the usual stretches (here's a good place to start: nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... it's well worth getting hold of a foam roller and taking a look at some YouTube videos to instruct you how to use it, I find it really good for tight muscles post-running. I usually only get them if it's a new distance or a race, but it definitely helps me if I give them a good rolling session. If you think it might be something more than just general tightness from use then get it rested, and checked out by a doctor or physio if it persists!
Thank you very much. Already feels better now than it was in the morning.. it was especially difficult going down the stairs. I will go try the foam rolls and exercises suggested.
Think I bodged up the link with a bracket! You've probably fixed it, but if not here it is again without bracket:
I was like that last week. 2 minutes with a foam roller - gone!
Hi vengie77. If it’s at the back of the leg just below the bulge of your calf it could be your soleus muscle. My sports physio gave me exercises for that after I hobbled Home one day.
I have set them out in empem’s latest post. If you want to have a look. 👀 they strengthen that muscle and haven’t had a problem since.
