Uneventful 5k on usual route ran today as Thursday is forecast very hot and I’ll do the 3k then.
Tech issue at the start - I tried to set my watch running and it told me to wait for GPS signal. In moments it connected and I started running. About 750m in, at foot of Sirens Hill outbound, watch tells me it is going into power saving mode. Uh oh. I hadn’t realised I still needed to press start. Grr.
A bit of fun towards the end - I tried running in time with Amy Winehouse/Monkey Man approaching and up the start of Sirens Hill and segued into Night Boat to Cairo up the rest. It had an impact on my cadence!
Whatever run you have next, enjoy it x

The tech can get annoying when it doesn’t do what you think it should be doing. Like Strava not talking to me last Saturday. Even more annoying when you realise it’s user error. Happy running 🏃♂️
Good plan avoiding the heat! Love that you can now nonchalantly declare a 5k as “uneventful”! Bet you wouldn’t have said that a few weeks ago! 😃🏃♂️🏃♀️❤️😎
Nope. I still properly pinch myself. I know I can knock out 5k on my usual route pretty much whenever I choose.
I’m doing a 3k tomorrow and it hardly feels like a run 😳 Week 1 run 1 of C25k and I couldn’t believe I was already expected to do another minute of running each time!
Yeah - think we just need to trust the plan again, Jay! 🏃♀️🏃♂️😎 I did my last week 1 run this morning (just 2.5k), but tried doing Fartlek-style intervals for a change. So shattered after each faster bit that I go very slow recovering and average out at slower than normal! 😂😂
I think Fartlek style is perhaps the easiest way to do them. You just randomly aim to run faster to some marker in front of you (gate / lamppost etc), then slow down to recover and repeat a few times depending how you feel. So pretty adaptable.
Love following your progress Jay - you being a couple of weeks ahead of me - it gives me belief I can keep on improving as long as I stay sound Thanks for the updates!
