At least I still can...

Despite a serious lack of running this month (due to mayhem at work) I decided, probably a bit rashly, to get some miles under my belt this weekend.

Went for an out and back along the canal thinking I could always call it early if I needed to. It wasn't too hot (given recent temperatures) but proved more humid than I expected so was glad I took water along with me.

Went off a bit fast (for me) and paid for it at about 7k when the legs started feeling it a bit. Still I managed the 10k planned and ran it 2 minutes faster than my last PB - so can't complain. The lack of lovely photos along such a lovely and interesting stretch of canal though gives you a good indication of the 'gritting your teeth and getting on with it' flavour of the run over all!

Still I haven't lost the distance and have high hopes for more leisurely outings soon.

School's out on Wednesday....

Fabulous effort Deb!

Roll on Wednesday😄xx

Congratulations Deb, I know it's been crazy busy for you recently, so glad you managed to get out and did the whole 10k. Yes you certainly have still got it, and I, for one, never doubted you for a second.

Here's to many more enjoyable runs over the summer break x

Good for you Deb. Yep, it was humid wasn't it?

Oh, well done. I wonder what it would be like to run through Port Meadow to Wolvercote and back.

I tried to do that once but was terrified by cows so ended up doing my first 10k by accident as I had to work a route around them .

I think running along the river across Port Meadow then joining the canal in Wolvercote and running back to town is about 9k.

Might try it again once school's out!

I did think of the cows but they’re usually in the distance. Running to Binsey might be nice. Have you visited Binsey church? It’s kike a time warp. Tiny chapel with oil lamps and no electricity, and a holy well in the graveyard.
