I am a novice runner who has tried to find running for the first time this year, approaching 7 months ago and just about to clock my 75th.
I have to pinch myself when I look at my 10K and half marathon badges.
In seven short months I have had a roller coaster of emotions as this forum has constantly revealed the infinite possibilities that exist and how to achieve them.
For Newbies coming to C25k so much available, try and be patient, try and be chilled , relax and enjoy your steady progress.
At times I have not been, but on reflection, my journey is now settled and only through this forum.
Interesting, the answers are here , and I have found it has been some other forum member that has raised the question. What a well of gems that exists on this forum, so just come and take what you need to pursue this gift of running to yourself.
I am going to pursue an improvement in 5k and 10K pace and will rejoin the magic 10 bus again on the 10th August 2018.
I am not going to pursue distance, at present, it’s a big shift at my slow pace, but I am going to work very hard to maintain a half marathon readiness state of fitness by doing appropriately ,for me,a 15k easy run.
I have been given the confidence on here, to adopt the lock in unquestionable and resolute , I will do the distance thinking, with of course the preparation and guidance rules to achieve it.
So I am sorted.Never could I ever have believed that I would have reached this point, and still have so much opportunity and learning and enjoyment ahead.
I do owe my garden a massive favour and a real treat,so I have to share my labour there and hold on to my current fitness until I catch the next, Panther leader’s bus.
I came for my health and my fitness and I have found that running is the life’s blood of my soul.
There will never be and can never be enough thank you’s to this magic forum.
With every good wish in realising your running dreams

What a terrific post Tbae, I really enjoyed reading your running reflections. Thank you for a great start to my day..... well second start as I have been gardening since 7am.... delightful 😎
Thanks for those lovely words Tbae. Yes you are right, both running and gardening give me what I call ‘my time’ , time to think, to accept, to heal a little . Nature is a beautiful thing. Having time to enjoy it is a luxury I know. But I am embracing every opportunity .
Lovely running reflections, Tbae, thank you for posting. You truly are an inspirational runner. And I so agree, patience is SO important when it comes to running. x
Another great post from you Tbae, congratulations for achieving and being rewarded with your 10K and half marathon badges.
I have had to put any more running on hold for the moment as I have a sore hip, it only gets sore when I walk fast or run, all other exercises which I do like push-ups, sit-ups, plank, yoga, and kettlebell exercises I can still do as well as cycling have not been affected by that sore hip, strange, not sure if the actual running caused that, anyway, all the best to you and you future magic 10 bus again on 10th August.
Good that your able to maintain your exceptional fitness. I can not believe your pace.As a novice I certainly have no doubts that our amazing pieces of kit can adapt and strengthen in a way that may initially be difficult to fully comprehend.
Take care of you Alan and every good wish with your hip recovery.
Thank you Tbae, I have just come back from a rather slow 35 minute walk around a lovely nature trail near to where I live, I saw a heron standing on a small island in the pond, it's one of those nature trails with a boardwalk over the marshy past, I was in shorts and had to make sure none of those nasty nettles stung my legs. Yes, it is a bit frustrating not being able to run at the moment, however, the soreness of my hips this morning was practically gone despite not taking any pills which I had to take on Monday, so I am getting better. As you know I always keep to the rules regarding running, I did so during my full 9 weeks of C25K including that memorable graduation run along the promenade at Helensburgh, now over 4 weeks ago, (remember that guy shouting 'gone yersel) lol. I am annoyed at myself regarding the first post-graduation run, according to my app my pace was 06.52/km, the 30-minute run being done at a distance of 4km. 366m, but Alan here stopped dead at the 30-minute mark, not because I was tired, just because it was 30 minutes, if I had continued to the full 5K, according to the Strava Pace Calculator I have on my Smartphone I would have done that run in 34m 20 seconds, Now I'll have to wait until the hip is completely better. Not sure if I could run at that pace again, perhaps more like a 37 minute 5k. Of course, I have not run longer than 30 minutes, that could make a difference as well.
Thanks Tbae - I am sure there are guys and girls out there who have been through worse. Everyone has their own journey - I was just hoping to grab the attention of the naysayer newbies who lurk and procrastinate (been there as well!! lol).
I look forward to reading and following you on your pace journey sir!
You make me feel important with the sir, my running friend.🙈😂
You did grab attention and rightly so to help Newbies to give this gift to themselves.
Very well done.👍👏👏
I alwats remember in a touchy feely session at work, we had a colleague who was very disappointed that he only got called Mr.🤔 You know the stuff no ties, relaxed informal dress, walk the walk , talk the talk, all in it together , shared values.etc.
A lot of organisations and others could learn from this magic running forum, giving, accommodating, experienced, meeting personal needs and complex because we are all different with unique needs and individual magic and light bulb moments required.
Gone off on one again.🙈😂
Sorry , you take care and keep bringing your story and gems.💥🏃♂️💥
Want to go sub 30 for 5k and I am just under 40.🙈😂
I am going to find a new gearbox, maybe a recon engine, hopefully my wheels Ok , but probably then need to fit some brakes.🙈😂
Wow a brilliant post Bob. You are one of those runners on this forum who has supported me from the beginning. You’ve made me want more and know it’s achievable.
