Hi everyone and welcome to a new running week.

We are all so busy.....life can be hectic ........and even more so for us runners!

Fear not, here is a place to take five, and enjoy a chat about our running adventures, trials, tribulations, successes, achievements etc.

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If you're a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi, without the pressure of a full post.

Wishing you all a happy , healthy and well hydrated week,

Oldfloss, Ju-ju, Realfoodieclub, Bluebirdrunner and me..Millsie-J. Enjoy X

Hi Millsie-J - ran my furthest distance today of 11k. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Should I consolidate 10K for longer or is it ok to creep up slowly? Iโ€™ve ran 3 so far in 2 weeks. Thanks!

A great run!

We are all different Rip so my advice is listen to your body. Any creaks, then take a couple of days rest. If you are feeling tired pull back on the distance.

As a new distance runner you may find 3 long runs in two weeks is too much. It may be better to stick with one long run each week.... growing longer weekly ish. This should be followed by a recovery run. Then mix up your third run maybe with a fast 5k, hill work occasionally, intervals or fartlek. There is loads to choose from, but consolidate regularly and perhaps consider a planned four/five day rest every six weeks or so. This is only my suggestion based on what suits my body. You will be different so listen to what your body tells you it needs.

You are doing brilliantly!

Ps decide what it is you are training for, then you can put together a suitable plan to get you there.

Thank you! Very helpful indeed. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm on Week 2 and a half of Ju-Ju's program. I did my 6km run of Week 2 yesterday. This week, I plan to follow Ju-ju's program but my long run next weekend will be 6.5km. I'm going up by .5km each week, I've decided. Then I'll be ready for my 8km road race in mid August. I'm cautious about going back to the IC, hence the slowish progress. I have my first Pilates class tonight and I'm excited!

The plan is only a suggestion Paulanoo. Itโ€™s a starter for ten, you can then adapt as you feel, but best to stay on the side of safety regarding increased distance. I did a similar approach to yours myself for my very first 10k. You know how to listen to your own body and can then adapt to suit.

Itโ€™s always good to recognise we are all different, and on top of that we have various ages, different health issues, a wide set of speeds etc etc. One plan can never suit everyone.

Enjoy the journey.

Thanks Millsie. That's good to hear. My goals are an 8km road race in mid August and a 10km road race at the beginning of October (both are held in my town and are fun events. I am happy to be moving towards those with my 3 runs a week and lots of strengthening and stretching too. And PILATES!!

Hello, Dexy5 here. My plan is still to do 3 runs a week , one of which will be a Parkrun. I donโ€™t expect to write a post every run now unless something significant happens. I do wish everyone else who is progressing towards 10k all the best.

We'll miss you Dexy ;)

Thanks Paulanoo. Iโ€™ll still be lurking and making the odd comment but unless I run somewhere delightfully different it will get a bit boring for you guys. So maybe a weekly chat just to let you know I am still running ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ .

Hi all. Loving your slogan Millsie-J itโ€™s so very true ! Had a lovely 6 am 5 mile run this morning. Itโ€™s been schorchio for weeks in Manchester but rained a lot last night so this morning was fresh and alive out there. Home to a lovely omelette and coffee. Pure joy ;-)
