Hello Magic Runner’s..... so now we embark on week 2of the 10k plan. How are you all doing? This weeks vid is a tad quiet as the neighbour was hosing his garden ( at 6.30 this morning....???) and I didn’t want him to think I talk to myself!! Also, I don’t suggest you all go out and start a runstreak.... no way. I didn’t do it till after running for 3 years and I built up gradually to do it....
Hi Ju-ju! Had a great 2nd week and start 3 tomorrow. Quick question though: my longer run is my 2nd run of the week finishing with the 5k. Purely because that’s the best time for it. Is that ok? x
Yay, I get to go first! So I think I am kind of in week 2/3... I started last Monday with a 3k intervals session, as per week 2, then went 3 whole days without running! So your motivation tip video was very timely indeed!
And have just completed my long run for the week, a very slow (one hour) 7k run on the treadmill. Actually think it was further than that, as the technology struggles to calculate pace in the treadmill... but I’ll call it a 7k.
And that’s a PB for me in terms of both distance and time
So not sure now whether I am now in effect in week 3, but plan to get out on Sunday and do a 5k (and try go go a bit faster) and take it from there.
Hi ju-ju! Starting week two with Parkrun tomorrow morning. Will be hoping for a quickish one as my son is with his Dad this weekend so I'll be running it all. Probably use my 3k as a recovery run on Monday then go for the 6k on Wednesday or Thursday x
Last time I attempted to run the whole thing it was hot - I didn't quite make it! Come to think of it I've done 5k non-stop loads of times but never at Parkrun 🤔
I’ve only done it once - Week 9 Run and was roasting. It put me off doing it again as felt exhausted by 3k! Need to tackle that demon again....in winter! X
Haha! I decided very quickly that it would be a bad idea to try and PB in it every week plus doing it in 30:00 nearly killed me at the time 😂 Much better doing it as a fun run x
Not only the achievement of a 533 day streak , and of course ongoing , but just the determination and absolutely locked in certainty that is driving it.
I googled quickly consecutive day running. You are in elite company.
Now for my week, complete with towel, lol.
Should:Complete week2,with a further 5k and 11k.To go with my 5k interval training run.
Would:want to get back on track with my gym strength all body workouts.
Did:A 21/22 x1 minute speed interval session.Understand the 30:20:10 structured fartlek and will begin to use it.Used strides after a 5k run. Great. Played about with a 2k warmup before attempting the 5k speed challenge.
Have a few more attempts before it ends a week Sunday?
Thanks ju-ju, great video. Love the motivation and determination. I start week 2 on Sunday with the 6k, as l can run in the morning and that's when l run best.
i am being really selfish about my running and trying really hard to get out 3 times a week, regardless of work and family. I feel so much better for it, only started in March, so hoping I'll get through the winter. That's when my determination will need to push through!!😀
It’s the only way, I have too. My children used to moan, but then in the past when I didn’t get to run for whatever reason, I was soooooo grumpy and they soon started encouraging me to go for a run so I would be happy mum!!!
Just finished week 3 with my 5k and on to week 4 this week! I'm moving house next weekend which means changing my routes 😩 but hopefully it shouldn't throw me off too much!
Hi all, I’m a bit behind as I needed to rest for 3/4 days to stop an injury in its tracks. I’ll be attempting w1r3 tomorrow and then onto week 2. I kinda like doing my longest run on a Sunday so maybe this has worked out well. Doing my strengthening exercises and starting Pilates on Monday so it’s all good. Good luck all
3k of this week done... 5k poss tomorrow or Mon...thank you for the pep talk ju-ju- ...determination is def the key & if, when you’re out on a run & you feel yourself flagging it’s the determination of reaching that distance or time that makes you dig deep & keep going
Bit of a strange time to water the garden but hey ho each to their own!! Happy Saturday everyone xx
So, I'm the girl who's running alongside without a marathon number, maybe I'll be thrown off the course, who can say! I've kinda done week one, if you count 5k, 5k and 5.5k. Was meant to be consolidating and hadn't really set a goal for 10k, but I'm feeling a bit left out and unstructured. With my OH under the weather I've also had the freedom to do my own thing, so tonight I did 3k intervals so I'd have the option to move on to week 2 if I'm not chased of the course!
Out bright and early this morning to start week 3, decided to do the long run as couldn’t face trying to go too fast
So it was a few laps around my local patch of fields and woodland - completed just over 7k at a steady pace, and was pleased to see it was faster than my previous longest outside run, the 6k in the Lake District, despite today’s route being more challenging.
Aaaaarrrgh...I am so frustrated!!! I’ve been helping DaddyCav at work this week, ripping a bathroom out, I trundled up & down the stairs 39 times on Tuesday (run day) with bags of old times & cement so I was exhausted & too hot to go for a run on Tuesday eve...I thought I was realeased yesterday but no, he needed me again and it was too warm to go for my run yesterday too...now he needs me again today...only until dinner time though but I know it will be too warm for 6k so I am hoping to go & complete week 2 this evening even if I have to go out at 10pm!!!!! I WILL do this!!! 🏃🏼♀️💪🏻
W2 completed on an absolute high yesterday! My first sub 30 minute 5K. I'm 100% convinced your magic 10 plan has made this possible - I have changed my mindset about 5K, it's no longer my long run , it's 'only 5k' now I've also managed the last 5 runs outdoors and this morning my hip still seems to be behaving. I'm in one of those 'happy places' on my journey - hope I'm not tempting fate saying that!
Oh, and I 100% agree - determination is the only thing that works for me which is why this program is so great
Just did run 3 of week 2 this morning (haven’t done run 2 yet though will try on Sunday) nice and slow and steady for a gentle 6k run at an easy conversational pace. It was too hot to push it anyway so I held back and just enjoyed being out along the beach in the hot sunshine with a nice gentle breeze. Only hit a small stumbling block at 5km when I’d turned off the beach down a road with a hill and lots of traffic and no breeze and no shade but I pushed through and had plenty in the tank for a nice fast last 250 metres. Feeling good! 😁
