Running on Water

I enjoy running at the local reservoir for lots of reasons (it's flat, no dogs are allowed, I like running near water, there are loads of distractions and a good cafe - perfect for a post run cuppa) including the fact that on Strava it looks like I can run on water 😂.

So I always tend to have good runs there but I have to say today was my favourite ever. I can't quite fathom why some runs are just perfect and others not. Last week set out in perfect cool early morning sunshine along a favourite Thameside route but found it a real slog. This week I sleep in, weather's changeable and a bit muggy, exhausted after a geuelling week at work, drank one too many glasses of wine last night and (close your ears chaps) it's that time of the month and I have the best run ever! Breathing feels great, legs feel great, feel I'm really hitting a comfy stride all the way through, manage my best 5k time as a part of it and that I could have kept going (but only had an hour having got up late!)

How does that work? However whatever running magic was a play today I'm not going to jinx it by over examining it - just bask in the glory of a good run 😚.

Happy running everyone.

Definitely bask in the glory of the perfect run! That was my interval run from yesterday. My legs and abs were tight from my little race the day before against my son and this run had longer intervals at a faster speed and man oh man it felt great. Definitely cherish the great ones because you never know when the next slog of a run will show up!
