So fed up with my kneešŸ˜

Was feeling very happy with myself when I finished my last run on my C25K but was gutted when I woke up with an aching right knee last Friday. Have been sensible and not tried to run on it ( well actually could barely walk on it but now am hobbling with no pain most of the time). I am so disappointed, I have worked so hard to manage to complete the C25K and am now worried that I will just be going backwards. Any advice? I really don't want to give this up now.

First of all congratulations for graduating, perhaps it's a good idea to have a short break from the final W9R3 to the first 'consolidation' run. My plan after I hopefully succeed in my final C25K week 9 run 3 next Monday is to have 4 days off running at least long distances and just have a cycle ride and do some other exercises They say as much as 10 days should not affect your performances, although that might be stretching it a bit, 4 days off I am sure is OK. I hope your problems with your right knee will be sorted out as soon as possible, see a doctor for medical advice.

I hope you're right about a few days off! I am going to try a swim tomorrow but if no improvement then I think i'll have to try to get in to the docs!

Whatā€™s the problem with it?

Right knee feels swollen and sore on left side.

Knee is a complex customer. Mine ballooned and hurt in a bad way, stopped me from running for months.

My main reasons were inadequate shoes with bad support and no insoles. No gait analysis either. That bad knee was the main result for my subsequent ankle injury, donā€™t ask.... But that was all a while ago.

I got fixed by a very good osteopath and a physio, costly exercises but invaluable. My GP prescribed pain killers, bless.

Whatever you do, donā€™t run through pain and discomfort, especially if there is a flare up. I did and.....long and painful story.

If the condition persists go and see a specialist, whatever the cost just do it. As for going backwards, l repeated the whole program and a year or so later l did HM as well, not having any issues again.

All the best!

Thank you, that sounds like really good advice. I'll hang on to the weekend and then see about physio if it still looks dodgy. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised - I am overweight and have done dodgy things to my knees in skiing accidents years ago and had a fall down some stairs which damaged my ankle last year. Probably lucky to not have done anything earlier!

I think a good physio who specialises in sports injuries might be well worth it. They get you back on your feet quickly in my experience. Good luck

Iā€™m in the same boat! Really pleased with my graduation run, but tried B210k today and it was slow! My knee has hurt since the graduation run, so itā€™s back to exercises and rest for me.
