Okay, so, despite being broke, I have been "visiting" a pair of beautiful OnCloud running shoes at my local running shop for the last week, almost daily. I love them so much. I think the guys in the shop are getting suspicious, as I have been there three times just to fondle them. I am trying to save money right now, but do deserve a treat, and would like a 2nd pair of shoes in order to rotate.
So, just wondering, does anyone have any experience with running in these shoes? They look so light and pretty, and my heart flutters when I see them, but…well, are they any good? I know we all have different needs, but I am a neutral gaited runner and I run mostly on road.
Thanks!

I've got On Cloudsurfers and they are sooo nice - not that I've ever owned another pair of running shoes mind 😂 They just seem to effortlessly make my footfall correct and I haven't had any of the aches which I did have before I got them. I'd say stop visiting them and give them a good home
I have the cloudflyers and I flickm3 has those plus the clouds. I'm not sure of the difference between the two. I really like them with one drawback, the channel down the centre between the cloud pods is ideal for lumps of gravel to stick into, also the cloud pods are open on the sides so gravel can get stuck in there. This can mean you get gravel sparking against the road surface and at worst digging into your sole if it is bigger than the tread depth. That aside they are fantastically well engineered shoes and follow a different philosophy than the rest of the pack.
Yeah, I have heard this about them before (the twig / stone / gravel sticking issue). I quite like the idea of sending sparks along the road as I run though. LOL.
It's not a huge issue and wouldn't stop me buying them again. I don't think you'd notice on tarmac, it's just I run on some farm roads where they are made up of looser pounded in rock that isn't bonded in with tar and that sort of loose and larger aggregate is a real magnet for these shoes, but still it only happens to the point where i need to stop and dig one out every run in ten.
Hi Sadie, My brother uses Oncloud Flow and loves them....at the end of the day, it’s horses for courses 😊
If you like them then go get ‘em 🤗
I’m not a shoe expert, but you’ve been to “visit” them a few times, so I think your heart knows!!! Just don’t bankrupt yourself in the process eh? If they make you happy, that alone may well make you run better
I get paid on Friday, and just sent back two dresses I ordered online and don't like…so…well, I would rather have new running shoes than new dresses these days anyway!
It is getting bad. They know me by name now, and sigh when I walk in the shop. I am loitering with intent to buy, is my defence!
I have these and the Cloudflyers and I rotate them. They are super comfortable and light as a feather. I use them on runs of all lengths. I seem to run faster and with lighter feet in them. My gait is also neutral. I'm a mid foot striker and these encourage that (the brooks I had made me heel strike). I use them on and off road, though not for anything too tough. The only thing is they can pick up stones between the clouds on the sole - and once I had a twig wedged there - but you dont feel it at all when running and they are easily extracted. I would say go for them, but be aware that they are small sizing, so make sure you try them on and check there is a thumbnail width between your big toe and the end of the shoe. I don't think I will run in anything but On shoes now. Check the reviews on their website - loads of people saying how pain and injury disappeared after running in them xxx
Thanks Flick! You have me convinced! I am trying to mid-strike run too, and anything that helps with that can only be good. I will definitely try them on (and run in them – the shop has a dreadmill); I think I need to size up a bit anyway, as I am running longer distances now. My ASICs are a size 6, and I think that they could use being a 6.5.
I am in love with the funky colours they have on offer and by how light they are! I love my ASICS, but they do feel rather "heavy". xxx
I went a whole size up with the cloudflyers. My reason for shopping for them is my Asics GT-2000 which were size correct were blistering the ends of one of my toes when I was running 10k and over. I got mine from up and running and they knocked 10% off by mentioning I was a member of a gym(they didn't ask for proof of that).
You're lucky to get a choice of colour. Up and Running only had black with white sole. Iwould have quite liked the all black ones xxx
I generally wear only grey and black clothing for running, so like to go full-on flamboyant with my shoes – the ones I am eyeing up lasciviously are an amazing green! xxx
I have cloudsurfers. They were the only ones which stopped me feeling my Achilles ache when I had gait analysis. They didn’t feel as cushioned on the inside as others but I figure all the work is going on in that outer sole. I also needed a size up. Happy with them.
I have Cloudflyers and I love them, they seem to warm up (as in getting more comfortable) and get more responsive as the run goes on. Not made for proper trails, great on Tarmac and manicured cycle tracks. Have had some pebbles occasionally get stuck but didn't notice them until I got home. Run Forest only had black in my size but not a problem. I do seem to be wearing the patterned tread on the heels (neutral runner) down a bit quickly though.
Thanks for the response, Annie. I don’t have any proper trail routes near me, but have my trusty ASICS for my fave woodland run. I just feel the need for a lighter shoe now, and the On Clouds look just the ticket. x
