6.36 miles, in the bag! No stopping - just a slight slow down to let a giant horse box go by. On the route (which looks rather like a badly-drawn Mr Men cartoon) I realised that I might actually have the option of a proper 10K circuit, to avoid needing to run that 'there and back' section to the 3 mile marker (a gorse bush, just past a gate). Down side is that it'll mean an extra mile or so on a busier road. Plus side is it will avoid the steepest uphill section! Now for some consolidation - i might add in an extra day of running - currently 2 x 5k - one fast, one with intervals, plus a longer run. Perhaps a couple of gentle miles the day after the long one?
Hurrah! 10k (and a bit) done!: 6.36 miles, in... - Bridge to 10K
Hurrah! 10k (and a bit) done!
Well done! A great time too!
Make sure you have a recovery day. Apparently you shouldnβt run on consecutive runs until youβre well established - I think been running for 12 months or something. Not sure though.
I read 6 months, but I'm not sure I would be ready to run every day yet, at last not long runs.
Hmm ... it'll be 6 months at the end of May. I don't intend to run every day - but perhaps add a 4th day with a short easy run, to build up the weekly total a bit.
Im running pretty much alternate days now, thatβs four times a week. A couple of weeks ago I needed more days off, but I seem to have made a breakthrough.
Yay! so pleased for you and great time x
Thanks FlickM3! I have a goal to run 10k at 10 min miles "sometime" in July. Not sure if that's really do-able ... maybe if I can find a nice flat circular route with a constant tailwind??? Something to work towards anyway! x
Brilliant.... well done you. Before I started my run streak I would always use the day after my long run as the rest day, so my suggestion would be to do the extra run a different day. Test out to see what works best for you...
