Monday is 10K day for me.
This morning's 10K I completed 4 minutes faster than my previous PB. Edging a little closer to the 60 minute benchmark, which is one of my running goals for this year! It was a bit slippery out there and I had to slow down a number of times to avoid my feet skittering out from under me, so there may even be a bit more in the tank.
Mini drama last Monday. I was not looking at my Garmin but partway through realised I running at closer to my usual 5K pace than my slower 10K pace. Suddenly felt tired at 5 miles but ignored that and pushed on, until, inevitably, just before the 6 mile mark I felt a sharp pain in my right knee, which then became a "STOP NOW!" pain within 20 yards or so. Then a little further on I jogged across a road to take advantage of a gap in the traffic. That definitely hurt and I could barely walk the rest of the way.
Still, instinctively I felt this was just a blip, and decided just to take an extra rest day. Thursday I ran a 5K no problem. Also Saturday, but with some traction control issues - "Ice in Southern England?!" - shouldn't complain as it's quite a rarity!
More important than a new 10K PB was swerving the IC, I think!
