Ran 10K for the second time this morning, two weeks after my first one.
Fell out of love with the canal path along the way. What felt nice at my lazy recovery pace last week was annoying when I was going faster. Lots of overhanging branches, tree roots and occasional cobbles. Saw a duck with 5 ducklings in tow though which was nice (no photo stop this time, I was on a bit of a mission).
That was the first 5k and then the second 5k was on the pavements. Felt much easier and my pace picked up. Even went for a fast finish and got just under my previous time.
Think I need to learn to pick my routes better depending on what mood I’m in. If I’m going for it a bit then pavements are best and I’ll save the trails for when I’m in no hurry.
11.5k today so a new furthest distance. Wasn’t planning that but my route fell short of home and I was feeling okay so decided to get closer before starting my cool down walk.
Oh and I forgot the best news of the week. 2017 annual health check - high cholesterol and not enough exercise. 2018 health check on Friday - cholesterol back within normal range. Some of it is diet too but running has definitely helped.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone.
