Sometimes hubby and I are just not on the same page! You might think that was a witty remark. But no. It was just 'why?', qualified with 'if you have hip pain why are you running further?'. No words were going to get him to understand. I was on cloud 9, feeling proud of my longest run yet, looking for a little admiration. Silly, silly me! The simple answer to his question? Because it makes me happy. When I can't run I'm not happy - I'm dwelling endlessly on why I can't run. When I can, I relax and enjoy and (having come to running late in life) feel a wonderful sense of achievement. I feel very , very lucky just now.
To anyone on the IC, take care, be patient, when you get back to running, it will be wonderful all over again

Mine thinks I'm nuts too; I also went out for 8k this afternoon! He wanted to watch some programme about 60yrs of Eurovision but I didn't want to spend that long on the sofa... you go girl, you're doing this for you and you are the star of your show!
Haha. On the couch, off the couch? You made the wise choice 😀
Honestly!!!you should have said "because I am ******* awesome thats why" that is fantastic...& i am on the illness couch alot at the moment & totally lost momentum with my running & desperate to get it back 😕
Ahh. If only I'd thought of that. I was on the lounge floir in the middle of the pigeon stretch - looking after my hip - it would've been a great comeback! You'll get your momentum back; but in the meantime you have every sympathy from me. The frustration that goes with not being able to run is brutal ☹
Oh it is indeed!!!its awful...as i run for many benifits...its fixed my bad back & even a shoulder injury...now i am not running as i was its all.going to pot...my back is sore & the shoulder injury has returned!!!
This needs a 'don't like' button ☹👎. Hoping you get on top of everything and back to regular running very soon 🤞
Congrats on your achievement !👏👏You have done great.
I’m sure that you know your limitations and your hip pain is not a distraction when your running.
Perhaps your hubby is concerned and worried that you don’t exacerbate your hip pain further. Men are silly sometimes aren’t they!
They love to protect us women and think we are weak and feeble hee! hee! even though they find it hard to understand why we would want to still run when we have niggles!
Absolutely! At the end of the day I was the one smiling 😀
As an older runner myself I find it amazing that some people feel it their duty tell you that it is not good for old people to run. Bollocks! When you have a good run you feel fantastic, nothing like it. And yes the sense of achievement is great too. To have gone from a non runner to runner late in life is something to be very proud of. Massive pat on the back to you, congratulations, keep on pushing your boundaries x
You could be my twin. I have a husband just like yours. Never shows any sense of pride as to what his wife is achieving. Oh well, while they are on the couch we are out reaping all sorts of health benefits. But the odd word of praise would be nice, just occasionally...
