9.22km ... then had to go for a sleep!

Did my longest run of 9.22km yesterday, on a very windy day and a hilly route (600 ft of up and downs). Took it steady, and felt not bad immediately afterwards. But had to go for a half hour sleep as soon as I had finished my recovery soup and cup of tea! I did feel pretty tired before I set off, so it was mind over matter to do it in the first place. Does anyone else have to sleep after their longer runs? Next week, hoping to hit the full 10k but would prefer to be functional afterwards! :)

Yeah sometimes. The fatigue just hits you. Just go with it. The recovery rest will do you good

Other times you might do much further and feel buzzing afterwards 🙂

I agree with misswobble , sometimes it hits me a few hours after a long run, most times it doesn't! I guess it depends on a lot of other factors. You will find that as your body adapts, it happens less frequently though - and the satisfaction of a good run does give that runners high too!🙂

Its happened a couple of times, tiredness coming out of nowhere, then two days later I feel back on form.

Yes, I sometimes feel exhausted for the rest of the day.

I have felt very tired after a long run. Not always straight away but it would hit me a few hours later.

I usually sleep well after a run as long as I have stretched and used my foam roller. 🌞
