I had this in my 2nd year of running when I overdid things. Not that I thought I was overdoing it, but I obviously did. I think it was aggravated because I live on a hill (mountain) and so the constant grind of having to get up the hill put more stress on my ankles.

Took a lot of time to get sorted because I unwisely ran through the pain. It was intermittent and hard to describe and the physio couldn't work out what the problem was because nothing actually hurt at the precise time of my appointment.

Rest, rest, rest. Don't run through the pain. But keep fit using other exercise and look up exercises to strengthen your ankles. I seem to remember using a resistance band and flexing my ankle and doing heel raises on the stairs. But be careful!!

Have you seen a Podiatrist? One specialising in musculoskeletal problems with experience in running injuries should be able to help

Thanks everyone. Second time at physio yesterday and more sports massage *oww* and told to roll over little and often with a tennis ball.

Crossing fingers for rapid improvement now. Really really wanting to run but of course will wait till the ok from professionals. Feel like I’ve lost so much in 3 weeks
