5 miles! Olivia Newton-John style sweat band needed ...

This feels like a milestone .. or five, on a lovely spring afternoon, at an average of 11m 13s per mile. The hills are still a big challenge. The trouble is I live at the top of a hill, so always finish with quite a big climb. Today I tried to keep going at a steady effort, if not pace, but it's SO much easier running down hills than up them, so inevitably my lungs work overtime on the way up! My personal goal is to run my local hilly 10k at 10 min mile pace by July. But first, 10k at any speed, perhaps the week after next? Let's see how my legs and knees feel tomorrow! Meanwhile I need to find a sweatband - I had to stop after 3.5 miles to wipe the stinging sweat out of my eyes :)

A great run! And well done with the hills - I'm not overly fond of them either up (when they make me gasp for breath) or down (when they play havoc with my knees).

Get the sweat band issue - I usually swipe sweat away with the sleeve of my top - but this process malfunctioned today when I ran in a vest 😂

Still would rather run in the sun.

I don't like very steep downhills but love a nice long gentle one :) x

What a lovely photo and well done for the run. I have the hill problem too. Once I get going, maybe 20 minutes or a couple of km, Im ok and the hills arent so daunting, but setting out they kill me and my lungs go like bellows.

Thank you FlickM3! I do rather miss the walking warm up from early days in C25K as it took me almost to the top of the hill and then it was downhill for 1 mile! Fine until it's time to turn around again :) x

Great run, you are doing brilliantly!

If you don't like the idea of a sweat band, a swipe of vaseline above the eyebrows deflects the sweat and keeps it out of your eyes - unless you get very extreme.

Have just discovered a pair of towelling wrist bands in my old sports bag ... I know that there is/was a matching headband back in my squash-playing youth but that might require a trip into the loft :) x

What a gorgeous photo, all my daffs have gone over now but your weather is clearly colder.

Well done on the run and especially on the hills but they are a great trainng ground for runners so think of them as taking medicine. Not great at the time but works wonders for our body 😏

On that sweat thing try a bandana/buff tied around your head so it sits on your forehead. That way it mops up any sweat 😰

Aha! And I know where my buffs are, whereas I'm not convinced I can find a sweat band without a trip deep into the loft! Might be a bit warm with a buff tho? It hit a steamy 17C here yesterday - peak summer temperatures, LOL! Our daffs started in April this year as winter lasted 6 months, so all the different varieties in our orchard started flowering within a couple of weeks except the Camelot and Pheasant's Eye which have just started opening :)

It can be warmer with a buff but the alternative is sweat dripping into your eyes. Takes your pick 😕 Wet the buff first if it's very hot and your whole head too.

I'm not a big fan of daffs when they stop flowering as you're not supposed to cut the leaves down. They look so sloppy in their death throes I usually end up cutting mine but they keep popping up the following year so, in spite of what the "experts" tell you, this doesn't seem to do them any harm. ...... oops gone a bit off topic here. Gardening is my other passion 🤗

LoL! Yes, gardening is one of my passions too - and we grow organic veg for our box scheme. I think about plants for several hours per day ... time tput the tomatoes into their big pots :) x
