Probably not the best plan... but.... I chose a new route to complete 10K, the first one since leaving the IC... I got lost twice, met some helpful locals, in some odd places, got very muddy feet, had to open a lot of gates on the coastal path ...and had to retrace my steps more than once.
I had a thoroughly wonderful time... I completed the run, only five minutes slower than my very first 10K run two years ago...1 hr 20 mins and 33 seconds.. Average pace 8.03 per km.
I'm happy with that
PS
Of course...I am two years older.. ( Any excuse eh?)

Ooooh, that looks like a nice spot to run! Congrats on reaching 10k again. I'm sure it feels amazing after your stint on the IC to not only be back running, but reaching some great distances.
I am really pleased... I dish out positive advice to folk, but sometimes I think... can I get back to it? Thanks x It is beautiful and so un-spoilt... just as it was when I was young
Thank you.. I am very, very lucky... lovely runs at home and lovely runs when we head to our holiday home at Criccieth So nice to be getting back on line
Wonderful! You are amazing Oldfloss. That path sounds much the same as the one I did from the Haven camp site near Pwhelli on Tuesday and Thursday. I am in awe of your running 10k , for me that is still a dream I am still trying to achieve 5k continuous running . I managed to make a right old mess of my running shoes on my Tuesday run that my Hubby agrees it might be a good idea to have a second pair of running shoes . Ooooooh new shoes yay.
Just up the road a bit... I ran to Llandstumdwy, first this morning and then joined the path later
Lovey running isn't it there? Are you still there?
It has taken a while to get back to this stage,,, and it has been and will still be steady and slow.. it gets us there and you will do it A second pair of shoes is a must.. really
Hi , no we came back this home afternoon we have a touring caravan and were only there for five days. Yes the area is beautiful, it is a lovely place to run only thing is so far Iβve been used to flattish running routes and for my poor little legs itβs a bit too undulating. I can cope with step climbs when we go walking but I struggle when running . Still; Iβm quite new at this running lark so Iβll keep on going once Iβve mastered 5k who knows 10k could be achievable. I plan on going to a parkrun tomorrow hopefully I wonβt oversleep as like I did last week. If you are still down there enjoy. Happy running take it easy.
Sounds amazing! A coastal 10k! You have every right to feel thoroughly pleased with yourself π and what a lesson in patience and unfussy dedication after your injury troubles earlier this year!
You had better believe it... my daughter said to me.. " Err what happened to, 5K is the most you will run.." she and Son in Law started me on this in 2015... and just look at the mischief I get up to π
I know how lucky I am.. and I know my limitations too
It was exciting and I did ring Mr OF to come and pick me up because my legs were tired,,, he was glad to be the Cavalry We had great cycle ride and lunch at our favourite little cafe...and I did have a glass of wine to celebrate the 10K.... Monday will be a doddle after this xxx
Thank you my friend xxx
Fantastic, well done. And it looks like a lovely route, especially with the blackthorn flowering x
Well done you. Looks amazing to run in such surroundings. I don't think I will ever do 10k but I will just enjoy what I can. My daughter just bought some fell running shoes for running over muddy fields!
"If we did all the things we are capable, we would literally astound ourselves ".
Edison was right; and I astound myself, nearly every time I run. You do not know where this journey will take you...
Carry on, steady and slow and enjoying and soon, you may find yourself buying trail shoes too, off road runs are amazing.. although your shoes may suffer
Nothing snail like about that! Very well done I bet it felt wonderful to be out for a long one after sitting on the IC for so long.... and what a gorgeous day to be out, in such a gorgeous place! Everything's on your side OF, ready and set for your HM! Exciting times.
I'm out tomorrow for a jogette after being on the IC for over a month ... can't remember exactly it's been so long but feels like forever!! My daughter's coming with me & starting wk 1 r 1. Never thought that would happen! x
So pleased that everything still works, my friend! You will love getting out there again...and really enjoy being off the IC.
How super to be doing this with your daughter too...perfect. My S-i-L and daughter started me off on running, but they had to stop... I carried on. Both have just begun running again...
Well, I, too, have been to the physical therapist and am a year older and notice I am running slower than I did last summer. Must have been all the leg muscles moved up to my arms whilst shoveling snow this winter.... Well, we can work on it. It's still early in the running year!!!
I totally agree..doubling back.. and it was slightly uphill, and with muddy shoes... and being sensible not pushing to hard Oh I can really make the excuses..but I was am very satisfied
Wonderful. I walked the whole of the Wales Coast Path over 2014, 15 and 16, And loved that area around Criccieth. In fact, the whole of the Llyn Peninsula is beautiful. π
