Just a quick question - can someone suggest the best roller for a tight calf muscle? I’ve seen the you tube videos and read the Guardian article suggested in other posts a few months ago but just wanted to ask if anyone has personal recommendation based on experience?

there is not a lot to choose between them tbh. Some are softer, some harder, some smooth, some knobbly. What matters is that you use one, regardless which, and use it properly - the Grauniad article is very poor on suggesting how to use the roller. Most people tend to just roll back and forth on it, which will do you more harm than good.
The roller I have and that seems to be most popular in Crossfit boxes and at sports therapists and among people I know is this one:
