Hello everybody and welcome to week 5 of 10 is the magic Number the 10k Plan....

So how are you all getting on?

Anyone is free to join.

Was the reset week helpful? I know some of you used it to catch up which is great. We will have another break before we finish which will be good :) There is just 1 quarter left to go which is just a slice of cake :)

This weeks runs:

4k

5k

8k

This week as we get to the longer distances think about how to chunk up your run. I use landmarks, counting and walk breaks on challenging runs. It mentally helps if you don't see it as a giant mountain. When I did marathon training I broke say a 20 mile run into 3 mile breaks. I wrote them all down on a piece of paper and then bit a hole through each one as I progressed. Yes I know, there is an element of craziness to me, bey hey... whatever works :)

Have a great week everyone and Happy Panthering :)

Fab picture. I kept going with the programme last week as I'm enjoying the structure of 3 runs with long, short and 5k. Looking forward to starting week 5 tomorrow. Fingers crossed that the snow ❄️ doesn't come!!

Just did my 5 k run today . It was nice to have an easy/ rest week in between. Although it was snowing I really enjoyed the run today :-)

This week I only ran last Sunday and Thursday : because of the gap I really struggled on Thursday ! But today I could have kept on going . Interesting how leaving a bigger gap between runs makes quiet a big difference .

:-))

Did the 8k run from week 5 today. Nice crunchy snow on the ground so at least it wasn't slippery. Pretty cold though, even though I was wearing gloves my fingers were frozen until the 5k point.

Just looked at the video, I chunk my runs into half Ks with MapMyRun lady set to let me know I've done it.

I used the “rest” week to catch up as I had fallen a week behind. The 7k from the last week was hard work both physically and mentally.

Today I ran the 4K from week 5, it was cold and it was snowing, definitely hat and gloves weather.

A few weeks ago, when I was coming to the end of C25K, a 4K run like this seemed such a long distance, now it is the “easy” run of the week and relatively straightforward. Not so sure about the 8k this week though, but at least it should have warmed up a bit by then.

This evening, as an added incentive to finish this programme I have signed up for the London 10k in May. Has anybody else entered for this?

A couple of questions from me please:

1. Last week I ran an 8k and a 5k. If I do all 3 runs this week, I’ll be increasing my weekly total by more than 10%. Will this be ok?

2. Thinking ahead! To graduate from C25k we had to run 30 mins without stopping. To graduate at 10k, do we have to do that without stopping, or are short walk breaks allowed? (Want to make sure I am claiming my badge properly when I get there!)

Thanks

I was wondering the same thing. In my head I was thinking could do 5k then a mini walk, then perhaps another 2 then mini walk then finish.

I’m interested in the reply x

I think that seems a good idea .

I need to take it easy this week as I overdid it with a run last Saturday and yoga workshop on Sunday . Seem to have inflamed bursae on lateral left thigh . I will probably get behind by a week at least :-(

Me again. Am recovered :-)

Managed to go for the 4 k run tonight and feel fine . Stretched before and after . Really happy. Now only got the 8 k left over the weekend :-)

Hope everyone is ok x
