I’ve done W1R2 but a while back I entered for a local mini marathon and opted for the 8km race. There was a 5k too. The race is tomorrow, so I thought it might be best to switch to the 5k and use that as my third run but a BIG part of me wants to see how I get on in the 8k. Decisions, decisions. Sensibly I reckon I should just go with the 5k and see if I can beat my PB instead. What do you think?

How far have you run in training? If you are over 6k then I would try out the 8k.

I’ve run a 10K but not since. Other than that I’ve run 6.5k but had to stop as my hips hurt too much. I’ve been stretching properly and bought a foam roller since then and even had a massage yesterday.
You've run further previously. Go for it. If something starts to hurt stop running. Then go back to the plan. It's a sudden increase in your weekly total mileage that's likely to knacker you.
