Bloody gremlins!

Tried new route today to run 5k. My son asked me this morning to run to his skate park and back so i agreed, doh!! Run there was ok, slightly hilly but mainly downhill, refused think about the way back lol, 2.4k one way- sorted. Way back home different story, vast mountains stood in my way, normally hills go up and then nice downhill but not here and not today, big up hill then levels out then nice big up hill which goes on and on!! Not one to be beaten, although made big mental note not to come this way again, I plodded on, slow and steady. First hill done, looked up to next big hill, thought legs couldn’t cope so diverted down small lane for legs to recover , checked strava -it had stopped on 3.4k!! After panicking, I thought no problem, I’ll just restart and do 1.6k to complete the 5k. This was tough, not only did I still have all these hills to climb but the 5k ended up finishing way past my original finishing point, so in fact I think I ran more like 6k with all those hills! Bloody gremlins! Not going that way again 😂😂

But you did it! The hill running will build your stamina (but maybe not every run if you can avoid it).

Hills are your friends, they will be nice to you if you keep up the acquaintance.

Thanks but I think I bit off more than I could chew although I did manage to keep going x

I know how you feel about the hills. I had problems this morning where I'm sure the gremlins had increased the size of the hills when I was running up them (very slowly) but then somehow flattened them out when I wanted to benefit from running downhill. Pesky critters!. :-)

It is funny really how when you run with lots of little hills you know it will be all the way down coming back, but it never does. Like someone up in the clouds playing a trick on you. 😩
