I’m Laura and I finished C25K about three weeks ago. I thought I’d join the Bridge to 10K forum to get some tips and advice for helping my running progression. I’m still working on consolidating my 30 minute runs and that’s going well – I did 5K in 29:49 yesterday. I have no 10K plans, but soon, in a few weeks or so, I’d like to try increasing my distance a little. I’ll probably lurk here more than I post but I just wanted to wave hello. *waves hello*
Just hello: I’m Laura and I finished C25K... - Bridge to 10K
Just hello
Hello 🙂. Stepping Stones podcasts and or just increase distance slowly no more than 10% a week
Have fun! 🙂🏃♀️👍✔️
Spooky – have literally just downloaded the Stepping Stones podcast, just as you replied.
The first podcast is deliberately slow in places for leg building. Stick with it as it does speed up. They are excellent. I run these all th3 time as they crop up on my playlist. Stamina is a beast. Take care. Have fun!
I was planning a slow run tomorrow so it sounds like just the ticket. Cheers!
Good! Some people duck out, citing the off-putting music, but never mind the music crack on 😃💪🏃♀️👍✔️
I can have my other music on other runs. 😀
Hi Laura! I didn't know you'd graduated - well done! Don't forget to ask for your badge
I think my situation is similar to yours. I thought I'd be lost without targets or progression after graduating and to be honest I don't have much of a plan as increasing my time out running isn't really an option right now, but I am surprised at how much I am enjoying consolidation. I too would like to build up to 10k eventually but I'll only occasionally have the time for a longer run so I'll just add what I can when I can, and mostly just enjoy the journey.
Hello! I have indeed asked for my badge.
Yes, like you I am just enjoying the running. I love being out there running and then feeling the benefits of it. I know you’re ‘supposed’ to always have a goal but I don’t want to pressure myself with all that; I fear it may take away some of the enjoyment of running. I shall just see how it goes.
That's how I feel about it mostly. It is still quite new to me so I am enjoying the newness of it all too. If I were to be too rigid about it I think it could seem like a chore but on the other hand it's nice at times to set targets so as to have the sense of achievment upon meeting them. It seems to be, like most things, a question of balance.
Exactly that. I think I’d like to tag half a kilometre on to one run per week, see how that goes for a bit and then go from there. I think I’ll take it a kilometre at a time as far as goals go. Next stop 6!
Six km is a very respectable distance! Also congrats on the sub-30 min 5k
Thanks! Still grinning about it. 😊
Wow, that is a great time, well done! It sounds like you have a sensible plan and as you say enjoyment is the main thing. Best of luck
Thank you very much. 😊
Hi there, ditto here - finished C25K a couple of weeks ago and now consolidating - I'm aiming to run 5K three times a week for the next 3-4 weeks and am using the C25K+ Steeping Stone, Stamina & Speed podcasts. I found this link about progressing and I would like to work up to 10K at some point but not putting myself under any pressure!: drive.google.com/file/d/0B3... Well done so far, great 5K time and keep up the good work
Hello! I’ve just done my first Stepping Stones run. Went well. I don’t know why so many folk moan about the music; I found it quite motivational.
