I hope you are all still enjoying your running. What prompted me to post is reaching the end of the “training programme chart” I was using that ended with me supposedly doing the Great Manchester Half Marathon two weeks ago and then the Lyme Park Laps today.
(The geological layers below it are my Couch to 5k, Bridge to 10k and first half marathon training, all stuck on the fridge door as a reminder!)
When the lockdown came I realised organised events were unlikely and you can see the wobble I had where my weekly total just collapsed.
I picked myself up by pretending to do a half marathon in 16 weeks time and set up a Garmin coach programme for that, which I’ve been following since. The G9 on the bottom row shows I’ve just completed week 9 of that, so 7 more weeks to go.
Along the way I took part in a virtual relay trail race with the local running group and I’ve been doing things I’d never usually do like speed or stride intervals and progression runs. All of which have definitely made me a bit faster...but I was slowest in the running club thing by quite a margin!
Still enjoying running and doing okay. Being single means I only have me to worry about and I’m able to work from home, which is obviously much easier than some are having it.
Enjoy your next run. Jx

Good to hear you’re still running so well, Jay. You look incredibly slim in that new profile picture! 😊❤️
I’m happy to be back running again now, and am just finishing couch to 5k again. I don’t plan to build back up to beyond 10k at this point. I seem too prone to injuries and heart issues! 😂❤️
Well done Jay66UK I think we’ve all had to change our running plans this year!😳 I’m just plodding on, doing my own thing and that seems to work for me.
Hopefully things will return to some kind of ‘normal‘ at some stage, but in the meantime virtual runs and challenges on Strava are working for me.
Hello Jay66UK, great to hear that you are still out there running and I think it’s a great idea to aim for a target , even though it may be a virtual HM come the day.
I’ve been on the IC and physio for most of the lockdown as a result of a ski collision In March. But I hope to be back to 5k this week. Then the target is a 10k in the New Forest in September 🤞
Hi Jay66UK , great to hear from you. 😀Sounds like you’ve been making good use of lockdown running. 👊🏃♂️👍 You're a changed man - intervals, speed ...... whatever next! Good for you. Let’s hope one day soon you can test out your new speedy skills in an actual race. 🤞🤞
Hi stranger. Glad to hear you’re out there with a plan despite the wobble. Honk a lot of us have more time to run it’s just whether we make the most of it. Looks like you are. Well done
That's an amazing chart, super impressed by your organisation. I think a lot of people's running was effected at the beginning of lockdown, mine certainly was, but you picked yourself back up. Good luck with the next 7 weeks of your plan
You are very organised with your training. I had a 10k training plan on my fridge door which my daughter threw away as it often fell off if the window was open😳. Well done for being so motivated and good luck for the rest of your plan 👍🏼
