Yes, I was a bit puzzled by my local's place on the list. Markeaton comes 305th with an elevation of 164. I would have said it was dead flat apart from a small hill which you have to do twice. It will definitely make me think about doing some of them as a tourist though!
I was bemused by their use of the word elevation, because I at first glance I thought they meant height above sea level. Is the small hill a very slight gradient/ long gradient?
Yes, I guess it's a slight, longish gradient, so perhaps that's what causes the numbers. Someone elsewhere suggested comparing it with the Garmin elevation, which unhelpfully is giving me 39m But 39*3.3 = 128 so unless I am misremembering how many feet in a metre then it's still a bit out, I think. Oh, well, it doesn't really matter after all!
I think the diagrams are a bit exaggerated too.
I keep reading about Bevendean's hills, and the community-run pub that everyone goes to afterwards, so I am IN!!
