Out this morning for my long run - aiming for at least another 11 miles but secretly hoping for the full 13.1 miles (21.1k!) Accompanied by not one, not two but three Kate Bush albums on my playlist (and a little Florence and the Machine) I headed off. Ran the first 12km on the trails. Much as I love them, they were so slippy and muddy in places today and I was quite relieved to get back on to the local roads. Refuelled and had a little to drink every 5 kilometres and this seemed to work well. My right ankle felt quite tired from about 13k but it seemed to come and go so I was able to run on although I was careful with my pace (I do not want an injury now!) . Ok, it wasn't fast but that was not my goal today (hoping I will be faster when I do the Bath Half in 5 weeks) Today my goal was the distance and the endurance and I did it! Think I will be smiling all day!πππ½ββοΈπ
My Kate Bush Half Marathon...π: Out this... - Bridge to 10K
My Kate Bush Half Marathon...π
Brilliant well done, a terrific run!
What do you use to refuel please?
Not tried gels yet (they don't really appeal to me). I either make my own 'Power flapjacks' (link is on here somewhere, if you search) I like to add almonds, cherries and cranberries to mine -(yum) or Nature Valley Oat and Honey bars. Works for me!π Eating whilst running is quite a skill, too!
Wow!! that is fantastic 21k - just brilliant, and including slippy trails, very well done Sandra. You seem to be doing well on your training plan. 5 weeks to go....exciting (but nerve wracking?).
Thanks skyesue16. The training plan (such as it is - in my head) seems to be working. At the moment I feel really excited but believe me, as we get nearer to the race I know I will start to feel really nervous! That's why I wanted to know I can actually do the full distance before the day.π
Good on you SandraJ,
I hope your ankle is ok now.
You should be smiling all week never mind all day.
You said that you wanted to reach the distance before the event and you've done it.
It's fantastic, well done.
All the best. x
And so you should, you deserve to feel chuffed with that effort, well done Sandra you're doing great! π
Great time, Sandra! What app are you using there?
Oh wow Sandra, that's fantastic, great time......I'm a bit slower......you're going to smash that HM...
Go you ππ

Well done Sandra. Not that there was any real doubt but you can now line up for your HM 100% sure that it is doable and doable it a good time.
You deserve to smile... Goodness. that is some run..
What a good time too, on muddy and slippery trails and I am so glad the ankle is holding up...
It is a good job I was fog bound and I wasn't with you today.. I would never have kept up
On target and looking great sweetie x
Brilliant Sandra! Good old Kate came up trumps!
You're definitely ready for Bath so you can relax and enjoy it π (but not too much relaxation maybe) Well done to you xxx
That is just brilliant !
Well done Flying Sandra , you are going to smash that HM ! xxx
Brilliant stuff Sandra! you are a star runner!
Very impressed! Especially with muddy paths thrown in too. I love remembering the musical soundtrack of my runs too, enjoy varying it, sometimes Stone Roses, Bat For Lashes, sometimes spoken word Hope you still feel amazing from it
Well done Sandra! It's all going on there girl and you are going well for Bath π
Good to see the flapjack recipe as I am on empty power bar wise. Tip. don't overcook em or they'll be impossible to chew π€
Are you tapering now then? Take care now π
I made the flapjacks last night but failed to follow my own advice! I fear they will make good door stops! I Daren't even try one what with the perilous state of my front teeth π¬π€π
They are now wrapped and in the freezer til my teeth get better π
I tried a flapjack today. I'd not frozen them all. I found a stray on the worktop today, wrapped but not stashed in the freezer. How my husband had not found it and eaten I don't know! They're way lush!
