Dear all

Following on from my earlier post, we now have around two dozen forum members who will run their local Parkrun on Christmas Eve, as part of the forum virtual team.

The aim of the virtual team is to heighten awareness of this great programme and forum. But importantly it is to support those on this forum who are keen but nervous about running their first Parkrun, by knowing they are supported by the wider virtual team running at the same time.

All graduates are welcome to join in, the more the merrier! All that's needed is to pledge to run your chosen Parkrun on Christmas Eve, and then run it! Let us know via this post or my previous if you wish to join in so we know intended numbers. Tell the forum when you have run it, and then enjoy your virtual mince pie and mulled wine.....alcohol free also available πŸ˜ƒ. Photos welcomed!

RunaroundSue is happy to compile a post-run report for the Parkrun regular bulletin to celebrate our efforts. She has already been in touch to let Parkrun know our plans. Sue will collate numbers and compile a report to send to Parkrun. You can save the above image, print off and use in your post-run photo should you wish. One or two of these may be used in the report so please let us know when you post if you prefer yours not to be included.

I have uploaded this on to C25K and B210k as we would like not just first time Parkrunners, but also our seasoned regular Parkrunner members to have the opportunity to be part of the virtual team if they wish to. Apologies if you have double read.

RFC is organising a virtual xmas run for those forum members not yet ready for a 5k or unable to run on the day, so virtual runs all round! She has kindly pinned on the C25k site, the previous post for the Christmas Parkrun for ease of access.

Thank you for reading this post.

Happy running.

Sounds a great idea - and if any parkrun newbies want you make this their first run at Tilgate, let me know and I will organise buddies to run/run walk with you (unless, of course, you are super speedy, in which case we will wave at you from the back!)

I'll be doing parkrun at Woodley and like agedsnailspace , if anyone wants to try their first parkrun in the Reading area I'd be happy to support them πŸ˜€

I want to join in however I will be in a town where there isn't a parkrun. ( I checked, and it is 683.7km to the nearest Parkrun). So can I set up my own Parkrun? Please Jack-W ? 😳

This town has a dual path along the Southern Ocean where I have planned my runs and I can set it up as a temporary Parkrun just for my litttle self. 2.5k one way, 2.5k return. Plus up the sand dune home for good measure.

What do you say? I would hate to miss out.

Then I can have a champagne and strawberries cocktail 🍸 sitting on the balcony watching the whales going past πŸ‹. Will send you a picture if I remember...(I do have Senior moments now and again πŸ˜‚)

Sounds like a fantastic idea. I'll be doing Kirkcaldy Parkrun if there's anyone out there fancies giving it a go! I might even be doing the visitor/new runner briefing that day (tbc)

Ooh yes please! I'll be in Banbury. Already looking forward to a well deserved slice of Christmas cake afterwards!πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

What a great idea! Unfortunately there is a 'small' mountain with my name on it for traditional Christmas Eve walk.

Happy running

On advice from those around me,given the issues I had doing my first one,as I've said elsewhere I'm getting some things checked out before I attempt Parkrun again, sensible option first :)

Definitely the right thing to do Mark. Plenty of time to make a decision yet. Best wishes

Have volunteered to write up my park run on the 24th but have been told I can't really use it to plug the NHS C25K programme and the forum or everyone will be using their write-ups to advertise all sorts of things.

RunaroundSue have you had a more favourable response from park run HQ?

Yes, a similar reply, which is understandable really, they must have so many requests. But they did publish my feedback in this week's newsletter and said to let them know how we get on, with a photo

I'll be doing Killerton parkrun on Christmas eve. Happy to let you know how it goes. Pretty muddy if recent experience is anything to go by! I'd be delighted to trundle round with any first timers (I'm not quick at all!). I think this is a lovely idea - parkrun is for everyone and SO friendly!
