Mfam has crept out of the woodwork to say hello...

Long time, no see. I'm sorry to have disappeared for so long - the summer has been hot and rainless, and full of work and visitors. And sadly low in running. Apart form taking the Queenager out for couch to five K, of course... and her Dad joined us last week, which means there are now four runners in the family!

Went out determined to do an 8k today, and stopped at five... does Mo Farah get stitch too? Now determined to get three runs done a week - having tested less running, more stress, more food and more drink over a sustained period, my experiment has reliable results: running is good for me and I need it to stay 1) sane 2) slim and 3) happy. I'm really cross with myself for letting things slip. Anyway, Wish me luck guys - I'm off for a 10k in Avignon on Sunday with Kiddo. Kiddo now hammers a 10 k in 42 minutes... I'll just be happy if I get over the finishing line :)

Where are you running? It's going to be warm in Avignon, but after the scorchers this summer it'll be great.

Hatchlands Park near Guildfird in Surrey. Lovely NT property and parkland. It's cooling down here, especially in the morning, so should be nice, although possibly some rain about. ☺

Running in NT parkland, sounds gorgeous - take in some green grass views and think of me in the parched vineyards :)

I think they'll probably have had the time to shower off, have dinner and start their siesta before I appear at the finishing line :D

Watch this space... I was swearing at myself at km 3 today, so the gremlins are going to have to be tamed between now and Sunday morning.

Welcome back mfam, Have been to Avignon, very nice! This Sunday I'm in training with my running group for Croydon10k in Oct, so hope to get up to 8km...

I will think of you when I get to km eight - just at the entrance to the old part of Avignon. Running own a group is great - have fun!

Well, I hope the route goes "Sur le pont" I'd feel cheated otherwise! Is there even un pont? You'll be fine, I've never known anyone like you for slacking off for months, then pulling a fast 10K out of the bag! XX

Hey up, Curly ! Nope, not on the bridge.. it stops halfway across the Rhone so we'd have had to swim the remainder :) I ran past it, though...

Great to see you back here, Sweetie. :) :)

Kiddo is VERY fast now, isn't he, so you can bask in his reflected glory at the end of your 10k no matter what your own time is. However I suspect yours will be pretty quick too because, let's face it, you ain't no slouch when you strap those trainers on.

Have a wonderful time in Avignon on Sunday. Haven't been there for many a long year -last time was before we were married and hubby had food poisoning (but that's another story)

I've still got your pom-poms, so I'll be waving them like crazy for you and all the other c25k-res who are racing on Sunday. Good luck *\O/* xx

It's great to be back, cupcake :) Kiddo walloped it this time (Mfam-style post on its way, take your vitamins). Avignon was beautiful and the sun shone all weekend - and no food poisoning either!

Great to see you back, and sounds like you've really inspired your family! Great you are getting back into it, life has ebbs and flows and I think not running for a while makes us appreciate it more 😎

Definitely. This weekend has got me convinced that regular running now has to be part of the regular life plan. Next step: convincing the Queenager to sign up for a 5K.

Reply

Yeay! There your are!

Lovely to hear from you... it has been hot in France hasn't it...? I almost melted whilst we were there and only managed three runs!

10K.. straight in there...you don't waste time do you :) Good luck with it... :)

It's been way too hot. Absolutely nuts. It was warm on race day but not so hot I couldn't deal with it.

Running ebbs and flows Mfam. Glad to hear you're pushing for a flow again. Happy running.

I thought of your post on my way round, RWD. When I hit 5k my legs and feet were not linked up to what my brain was telling them to do at all - so I told them to bugger off and do as they were told, so they did. But slower than I wanted.

Hey up Mfam. Nice to see you out and running again Mrs! πŸ‘x

Hey up, sweetie ! It's nice to be out running again, I think I've got 'it' back again (says she, resisting the temptation to go and fan her running gear so that it's dry for a run today).

Hey mfam, good to see you. Hope it went well, Kiddo is just amazing, did he wait for you?

Me and OH did a 10k 'race' today too, around the Cambridgeshire countryside, seems to be a day for it! πŸ˜„

As my Mancunian granny used to say, "Did he buggery..." :D He finished well before me, and I wouldn't have it any other way. The kid is still radiant today. Wow, a 10 k race "en amoureux". I will suggest it to Calculus, but I have the feeling he might want to swap it for a 500m dash.

Ha ha! Good for Kiddo! Wonderful to hear of his enjoyment, that's the main thing. OH doesn't wait for me, oh no, wants to get it over and done with.....like a lot of things males seem to do......then waits and takes the oh so flattering photos of me huffing and puffing across the finish line......😁

Love your names for the relevant others, Queenager, Calculus etc., nice one Mfam! πŸ‘

Happily, the boys also manage to take their time in many other domains (queue for the toilet, anyone? :) ) Calculus wanted to take a pic of me during the 10k but turned up at the only time when I was walking (all will be explained).

I give silly names to everyone. My oldest son's nickname is Bigfoot. My kids call me Fiona (lovely - except they don't call their dad "Shrek").

I get Princess Fiona at work. They assure me its a term of endearment & not ala Shrek...... πŸ€”πŸ€”

I'm glad I have a Fiona sister out there. I feel less lonely. Don't tell me you know how to blow birds up just by singing, too?

Oh yes!! I prefer having frog shaped balloons though πŸ˜†πŸ˜†
