Over 60 . But not over the hill yet !

Had health check after being semi retiring at 60. Was borderline diabetic . Doctor regularly told me need to lose 1 or 2 stone. Despite cycling 3 miles and back to work 2 or 3 days a week my weight never come off. Im no Chris Froome (who regularly gets snogged by French ladies after finishing stage. Lucky man . Best part of tour of France !) Hit 60 not long ago, gave up drinking completely (though only ever would have 1 or 2 at weddings etc) . Always cook meals from scratch and plenty of fruit and veg. Virtually cut out biscuits cakes or refined food and sugars. My main vice is the odd ice cream. Just about to do final wk 9 of C25K. May not do up to 10K. Plan to run 3 days per week to and from part time job 3K there and 3K back. Taking time out to run up to an hour in addition to other stuff in life could be a bit much.

Hey joe! where you going? To quote part of the first line of Hendrix song, of which I think your old enough to know.

So yes, another over 60 here! being 61, I retired early a few years back and then put weight on, and having to control BP & cholesterol, but didn't fancy being in a gym, found c25k and do exercising at home, haven't looked back, with big improvement with weight particularly after graduating and going on with running. You will reap the benefit's of your effort's.

As for Chris Froome, his cardiovascular system is so efficient his resting heart rate drops as low as 29 beats per minute ..

Mines down to 54 which is not bad, so yes, I've got a tad fitter, so, no, don't worry about getting out there and thinking you're too old, because you ain't!😀

You sure aren't! I RUN errands these days. I find I can zip about like a youngster these days thanks to C25k ☺Bought myself a small rucksack from Lidl and now can reach outlying shops that I'd previously thought were too far away.

You never know where your running might lead 😊

Thanks "misswobble" your right I feel a lot younger and zipping about on my bike a lot faster. Although semi retired still have to work part time. Main aim is to lose a bit more wait about half a stone (already lost loads) and maintain minimum 5K 3 days a week and continue my cycling. Running to work 3K and back 2 times per week and do one day do my 5K around local lake. And see how it goes. I like cycling so think will expend any extra energy on that.

Thanks for your support. As with all my other posts I think this NHS Couch to 5K is brilliant. Starting my first wk 9 30 minutes tomorrow

I like cycling so think will expend any extra energy on that.
