Hi. Looking for some advice please. I’m 44 and 15 weeks pregnant with my first child after my fifth IVF cycle worked. I’m seeing the midwife at my GP surgery tomorrow and was wondering if this is the best time to mention that I want a C section? Also am I going to have to fight to get one? I feel very strongly that this is my only chance to have a child and I’ve been through a lot to get here and I don’t want anything to go wrong. Anyone been through similar please? x

Elective C Section
I hope you mw appointment went well. You’ll be consultant led after 20 weeks, so speak to your consultant about it. They’ll probably recommend it anyway. Good luck and congratulations!
Hi,
I’m 40 years old and I have a 15 week old boy from IVF.
Due to my age and being an ivf baby they were very keen for me to be induced before 41 weeks as there is a higher chance of still birth apparently, due to my baby being breech I was given a c section at 39 weeks.
I think that you may not have a fight on your hands due to your age and the ivf. I had to have more growth scans too, and was under care of a consultant so I think you will get to have a few chats about your choices and wishes.
Good luck and congratulations on the pregnancy!
So I saw my consultant and talked to her about my fears and wishes and she wasn’t exactly anti c section but was very keen to tell me about the risks. She has made me an appointment with the consultant midwife to help with my final decision. However last night I had a dream that a nurse examined me and told me that they wanted me to have a c section and I felt so happy and relieved in my dream that I’m totally sure now! Thanks for your replies, hopefully I haven’t got a fight ahead! xxxx
