Hi everyone, I have today found out I am pregnant I am a week overdue my period. However now is not the right time for me to have another child and I have decided to have an abortion which is an extremely hard decision for me, I go on holiday 2 weeks today and I'm just wondering if anyone could advise me if I will have stopped bleeding by then if my termination is done this week, I feel like a disgusting person to even ask this question but I have nowhere Else to turn :( thank you xxxxx

I'm in the same boat (although I have never had children, but now is not the right time. I suppose it may be easier for me having not had kids) I have had advice from someone to postpone mine till after my holiday! I go this Thursday and was meant to have it done today, only due to the fact that bleeding may not have stopped and you're at a higher chance of getting an infection within 4 weeks if you were to go swimming etc. I've also read it's not advicable to travel due to this as well for at least 4 weeks. That is why I have postponed mine, as the thought of getting ill abroad terrifies me and insurance is unlikely to cover it apparently?!

Don't feel like a horrible person, if it's not the right time for you then it's the right decision for you. Good luck with everything, it's normal to feel guilt (I do too) xxx

Don't feel disgusting, but please don't rush the decision as abortions are hard enough without that! I'd wait til after the holiday. Apart from anything else no procedure is risk free and you can't be sure you'll feel well enough. Finally, if you've only just found out and you are early on, you have time on your side - so take it, and make really sure you are comfortable with your choices before you make them. Big love. xx

That's completely not true, you can have an abortion any time during your pregnancy up until about 21 weeks.

I really wouldn't recommend doing it before you leave for holiday, the amount you bleed after an abortion can vary between 2 weeks (which is how long they usually say it lasts for) and like a month. It's not an easy process and your flow will be VERY heavy. I had an abortion last year and I literally couldn't walk across the hallway without having blood down my legs (sorry TMI). And if you're still going through it whilst you're on holiday, believe me it'll effect you more than you can believe. If you want me to go more in depth with my experience drop me a message xxx
