Contraception change

I'm currently on rigevidon and have been for almost a year now but it's giving me really awful side effects so I'm planning on switching to the implant this week. My question is if I'm not having sex between now and then should I stop taking my pill before I get the implant? I'm worried about having all these extra hormones in my body

Hi there

It would be better to stay on your pill as whomever fits the implant always feel it’s better when switching from one contraceptive to another. It then means as soon as your implant is fitted it will be working immediately. The pill effect will wear off very quickly, so the effects you have been feeling would normally be gone after a week.

I hope this helps

Best wishes

Katherine
