I have recently switched contraception pill from microgynon 30ed to gedarel and took gedarel on the next day of my inactive pill would I still be protected from pregnancy straight away?

Switching pill help!
Hi there
If you took the first Gedarel tablet on the first day after the last ‘active’ Microgynon tablet then you should be protected straight away. However, if you didn't or if you have any doubt you should use additional contraception like condoms or pop down back to your local contraceptive and sexual health clinic or GP surgery to discuss with them.
I hope this helps
Best wishes
Katherine
Well i had intercourse 4 days after taking gedarel and i guess i wouldnt be protected
Hi there
Without knowing if you took the pill straight away or if you subsequently missed any of either Pill I'm afraid it is difficult to say if you were protected or not. I think because there is some confusion I would suggested going back to your GP or the contraception clinic that prescribed the pills to talk to them about it as they will be able to give you a more definitive answer.
Sorry to not be of any more help
Best wishes
Katherine
