I have been on the pill since October and we have always used a condom, recently we haven't. He claims he never did anything inside me but for a while my breasts have been growing. I don't feel pregnant but my breasts are definitely bigger and my tummy is bigger, could this just be weight gain. My boyfriend is worried to. I have taken the pill constantly and always at 10pm without missing it. I don't think I am but what do you think

Worried about being pregnant
Hi there,
I understand you must be worried but try not to panic if possible. As you say, the symptoms you are experiencing might not be related to pregnancy. The pill is a good method of contraception and when taken correctly is around 91% effective at preventing pregnancy.
Is your period late? If so, you should take a pregnancy test. If this is negative but your period hasn't arrived after 4 days, you should retest. If this is negative but your period is still late it might be best if you went to speak to you GP or /local contraceptive or sexual health clinic as they can go over your dates with you and check if there is anything else which might be affecting your cycle. If the test is positive, you can speak to your GP about your options.
If your period isn't late, the best thing to do would be to wait until then to test as this will give you the most accurate result - compeltely appreciate it's difficult to wait when you are so anxious to find out, though.
I'm sorry I can't offer a more definitive answer, but I hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Katherine
Hi Katherine, thanks for your Advice, I have been taking the pill without breaks so I haven't had a period for 3 months so I won't be able to tell from this. I have decided to have a break now but I don't know if this would be a good indication or not. I did a test about two weeks and it was negative but it was just a cheap test and I'm still worried. I don't have any of the typical symptoms of it though
Hi there,
Home pregnancy tests are usually very accurate - even the cheap ones - if used according to instructions on the pack. If you aren't sure when your period is due or you don't get periods, then you can test 21 days after having had sex - I'm not sure when you had sex but as long as you tested 21 days later the result will most probably be reliable . Perhaps you could go to your local contraceptive or sexual health clinic or your GPs to have a chat about this? They can take another test with you and discuss your dates. As I said, the pill is a good method of contraception - so there is most probably nothing to worry about, even if your boyfriend didn't use a condom on that occasion. However, if you would prefer to use an even more reliable method, a nurse or your GP could also discuss your options with you.
Best wishes,
Katherine
