advice needed

following a recent colonoscopy (in June) I received a report from the hospital of their findings. I was told I had diverticular disease and given a leaflet explaining this condition. I was also told that a biopsy showed that I had oedematous colonic mucosa in the ascending colon and rectum. I have no clue what this is. GP said I needed to contact hospital where I had colonoscopy done - they are not replying to my emails (I’ve now sent 3). So - do I have to get a private appointment with a gastroenterologist to get an answer as to what exactly this is or is it something I shouldn’t be concerned about so no urgency needed ? Just need some reassurances I think.

Have you phoned the hospital gastroenterologist dept where you had scope, for clarification? You could consider complaint with PALS if you're not getting replies.

I find phone calls extremely difficult as I’m profoundly deaf - that’s why I emailed. Might consider Pals as my next step. Thank you

I hope that you managed to get your results!!! and things went well as I was told I have Diverticular Disease and IBS after my colonoscopies ( 2 less than 2 weeks apart polyps removed both times ) I was also given leaflets and more or less told to get on with it and given a FODMAP diet sheet as if I knew what I was doing had another colon scan this year that also came back OK so why I still got this is any ones guess well take care and keep well x ( A fellow sufferer )

Sadly no progress for me - sent emails to hospital - no reply - husband phoned on my behalf but phone rings and rings and no one answers . It’s all very frustrating . Thanks for enquiring though. Keep well

Have you still got the letter from the hospital or the ward that you were on? if not try the switch board and ask to be put through to them and try from there as surely some one can put right direction as I very much doubt that they will put it in an e-mail due to the data protection act failing that try your Doctor perhaps they sent them to them!!! So keep trying and take care x

Yeh - husband been trying that number for me - but then it rings and rings and is never answered. Gp says hospital has to deal with it not him. I just hit a brick wall whatever I do. Tbh I’m now considering getting a private appointment. I shouldn’t have to but apart from waiting til next April when I have the follow up appointment I don’t see any other way . Guess it’s just the way things are these days hey
