I had a calprotectin test about 5 months ago and it was 467 ,so they wanted me to do the test again which I did and I recently got the results back and it had gone down to 173 does this mean that I might have ibd or doesn't it ,I've had symptoms for a while ,but sometimes they ain't as bad ,I've never been given a diagnosis ,but my doctor is in contact with the gastro team ,they have said to keep an eye on things ,I'm just worried ,it's been a long process waiting for test results and now they are here ,I'm still confused thanks for any help .

Hi boxroad ,mine was loose stools but not diarrhoea and have been loosing weight and I've not felt great for quite a while ,I had a colonscopy in 2018 ,I had polyps ,which they removed ,but this time they are keeping an eye on my calprotectin and if it goes high again then I will have to have another colonscopy ,how have you managed to cope with it ,its been a very worrying time for me ,do you have any conditions ,I'm also hypothyroid .

I have had IBS for over 30 years, hight blood pressure, stable angina, type two diabetes, and sinus issues that I have a CT scan for next friday, and six weeks ago had op for stuck kidney stone. I had a crushing accident at work 34 years ago, it broke all my ribs punctured my lungs dislocated my shoulder after that I started getting health issues, the IBS was the first to raise its head tho. My sister has thyroid issues like you.

Hi boxroad ,your really going through it then ,did you have to stop working permanently, I've been on b12 injections since 2018 ,I will be on them for the rest of my life but I seem to get very tired quite a few weeks before my next injection is due ,so I might ask my doctor if I can have it a bit earlier then normal , how does yiur sister cope with her hypothyroid.

she is taking meds but I don’t know what they are. I took early retirement at the end of 2016 at 54 due to stresses at work, I was a workshop manager and also in charge of staffing health and safety buying all the materials needed to run the company, the company kept growing in size but I did get any help in my job, in the end my wife asked to to leave as she was worried I would not come home one day as she saw how much I was struggling just to get through the work day, I worked for the same family firm for 37 years, I helped build the company up, it was just myself and the boss to start with, when I left there were 15 people in the workshop and just me running the workshop, the boss had employed three staff to help him in the office, when I spoke to him about how I was struggling to get everything done he told me I pay you to manage so manage. I used to go home dreading going back the next day, my diabetes was out of control my IBS was terrible and I put all that down to the stress, stress is such a massive part of how our bodies react health wise, we can take loads of meds to help when our bodies go wrong but if we don’t sort the stress it will come back again and as I have found each time it comes back it’s worse than the time before if I have let my stress get on top of me again.

I found stopping work, losing my wage each mont a worry, but we cut back on things now we survive on my wife’s wages only but the stress is a lot lower in our house, we found most of our money was going on things we really didn’t need like sky tv,meals out, mobiles, gadgets etc etc. we have to learn to put our health first i found, happiness then follows.

I definately understand about stress ,stress has always played a big part in my life and it has never helped ,,it also didn't help my depression which ive suffered with for years ,I've got to hand it to you for running that business ,that's a lot to deal with ,I couldn't do it ,I'm glad you have sorted out your health .

I see on your profile that your vit B12 levels are low, was you tested for that? Being low can cause loose stools
