I recently asked for a blood test in-between my zoledronic acid infusions to see how my calcium levels are, I got a text from a gp to say that I only need a blood test 2-7 days prior to my infusion, it's good to know if I am still absorbing calcium I do not take a calcium supplement,

I've recently had my 4th annual infusion (no side effects) I was prescribed calcichew back in 2018 after my first spinal fracture but I can't tolerate the twice daily prescribed as they made me feel nauseous and constipated so just take one occasionally. Apparently my levels were OK the week before my infusion.

Considering it’s such a simple blood test I can’t see why they wouldn’t just agree to it. I know the NHS is being ‘economical’ but that seems excessive!

My first ZOLEDRONATE infusion is on the 5th of September 🌻

I had my first zol infusion last September. My GP agreed to a blood test to monitor levels after 6 months.Maybe worth asking another GP in the practice, Radars.

I was told I’ve got to have a blood test a month before I have my Denosumab. My vitamin D dropped really low once and I had to delay the Denosumab. It resulted in four more fractures.

No! I had Terraparatide first.

I've just had my fifth zolendronic infusion and they always check my calcium and vitamin D levels a couple of weeks before giving me the infusion. The blood test request comes from the hospital.

My vitamin D is low so they are rechecking that. I do take regular vitamin D and calcium, but have just discovered I have a pancreas problem so it might be that meaning I am not absorbing it well, in which case they will give me vitamin D by injection. Calcium levels were fine.

I was told to have a blood test 2-4 weeks after my infusion and given the blood test form ready to take to the phlebotomist.

you have to have a blood test with the blood test form from the hospital 2 to 7 days before your infusion.
