will walking with weights when I go for my daily walk with severe osteoporosis be any good.

I'm not a doctor but I think that walking with weights would provide additional load on the bones which can stimulate bone growth. Though if you have severe osteoporosis, I would be very careful because it could also increase the risk of fracture or injury. I guess if I were to try the weights with walking, I would go for a shorter walk, at a slower pace, and a very lightweight to see how I felt. I have osteoporosis and I walk without weights. I lift lighter weights twice a week and also just started using a vibration plate because I heard that those were good for bone support. I am due for a bone density test in july. It has been 2 years since I had my last one. I can't wait to see if all the changes I have made will make a difference in my results improving my bone.

yeah I walk for 30mns 5times week, and I have started using a 5lb weight for weight training 3xweek I have a gp appointment next Tuesday before I go for my second reclast infusion on the 25th, I will ask about using some weight while walking everytime I talk to gp he doesn't seem to know much regarding osteoporosis .

After spinal fusion surgery (T8 to L2), I had PT and walked with an 8 lb weight on one side, switching back and forth, while walking a long hallway. I think walking with it on one side at a time was more for stability than anything.

I don't think leg weights would cause any problems but using a backpack or jacket is probably not a good idea if you already have compression fracture in your spine. I am not sure you can really do weight-bearing exercises for the spine - it isn't designed to take heavy loads. Better to do exercises that strengthen the supporting muscles in the back and around your pelvis/buttocks. Bend your knees when you lift rather than bending forward.
