Vit D supplement made no difference!

My Vit D was tested via Medichecks October 2018 and was 54.7 nmol/l - ref: 50 - 200.

I used Delux spray at 3000iu per day, with K, calcium and magnesium for 3 months.

Recent NHS test = 54 nmol/l. (No ref range, but a note said that 36 to 60 nmol/l is adequate.)

So, it has not gone up at all!!! WHY?! Have I not taken a strong enough dose do you think?

I already have osteoporosis.

Thanks.

My vitamin D always decreases in winter so maybe the spray you were using has kept it up not that it made no difference.

Yes, maybe. No wonder I have osteoporosis - it has probably been low for years. Doctors don't seem to check Vit D!

I’m not familiar with vit D3 in spray form. I generally use Drs Best D3, 5000 IU capsules in winter and 2000 IU the rest of the year, depending on my blood level at the time. I have it checked twice a year. I aim for approximately 140 to 170 nmol/L vit D blood level.

I don't find swallowing capsules easy, so it has to be spray or drops. I was worried my level would be too high! It seems I have a long way to go!

The D3 capsules I use are a soft gel capsule containing the D3 suspended in the oil. I find them easier to swallow than most.

Best wishes
