hello, is anyone on this calcium channel blocker? Just wondered as seems to cause least side effect in terms of redness feet/ swelling compared with, for example Amlodipine . Thank you. Think one of the newer calcium channel blockers so might be expensive I suppose. Also not sure about dosage seems to come in 2,4,6mg - I am on 5 mg Amlodipine . Thanks
lacidipine: hello, is anyone on this... - High Blood Pressu...
lacidipine
This is the only calcium channel blocker that does not give me insomnia. Hard to get used to with chest pain side effect that eventually goes away (after months). Most effective if taken on empty stomach (i.e. not eaten for 2 to 3 hours) and suggest you don't eat for at least 1 hour after taking. All this is a bit of a pain, but if taken with food then medication doesn't work (well not in my case anyway). Temporarily raises heart rate after taking and can cause temporary low blood pressure. No swelling or bloating of ankles.
I have been on lacidipine for 18 months.
Hope this helps.
Haven’t started yet as waiting for red feet to disappear, nearly gone from Amlodipine. Chest pain sounds awful leaflet says stop taking if get that. Am starting on small dose 2mg then increasing to 4mg. Will report back. All medications so scary! Didn’t get on with Ramipril got awful cough.
I did get the chest pains checked out and there was no problem, so I stuck with the pains until they went away. They were not very severe, but existed most of the time. The time you take the medication can make a big difference to its effectiveness. For example I have found the best time to take mine is 2mg at noon and then 4mg at 4.00 pm. Suggest you check with a blood pressure monitor and try different times.
